Webbie-  How does one now edit something that was posted?  Also, when I get the red underline for a misspelled word and I right click it does not give me the word list, just an option to cut and paste.

The red underline is entirely a browser thing.  If your browser can't figure out what word you were trying to spell it won't give you any suggestions, that unfortunately has nothing to do with the site.

As far as editing, what are you referring to?  We don't allow forum edits because all too often someone will post something and then go back and change their post, which changes the flow and purpose of a conversation.

Thought that you used to be able to edit and also quote other's posts.  I have the bad habit of reading something after the fact and realizing that I left out a thought or totally left words out of a post.  I thought that functionality was there previously.

As for the red line….chrome does not have this issue with any other site.  It will red line it but I do not have options to change it, only cut and paste.  I routinely mess up th's (teh, otehr, etc) and it is caught with options elsewhere, and also on the old version.

You did used to be able to edit, it caused some problems and is not typical of most forums anyway.  Since a forum is a running conversation it doesn't really make sense to allow editing.

They only place you might see a red line and not be able to check it is in the forum, this is a whole different type of text box.  That is why we have the spellcheck button in the upper left hand corner 🙂

We don't have quoting functionality yet, I have to add it back in but for now you could cut and paste the quote and wrap it in normal quotes.

lol you and I are going to have to learn to proof read before submitting now Chem. I do the same thing at times write it post it and go…what the heck did I type??? I blame it on the kids sometimes part of their homework ends up in my posts because my fingers type what I'm telling them, not what I meant to type.

When I say wrap it in quotes I mean the old fashioned kind like these " " .

Preview is gone, probably for good, for usability reasons.

I knew what you meant… I was just trying to see if any of my old forum tricks worked (before shortcuts became the norm).

I would send a note directly to Webmaster and Veena.  As far as I know those are the only 2 people who may be able to do this.

Chem, I had the spell check problem when I use Google Chrome at home.  So your not alone on that one.  I guess that means I need to practice my spelling a bit better, LOL
