I am really hoping an experienced X-Pole expert can help me out please! I purchased the 50 MM X-Pole Xpert (Static/Stationary settings) in April. I have posted before, but have some more information to help me and maybe you guys to help suggest! 🙂

So I decided I am flipped out about putting the pole in the basement…our brand new house has huge freaky nasty looking wolf spiders…SO NO THANK YOU to the dark basement without a window!…but downstairs we do have a room with a window and dry wall for the ceiling. I am deathly afraid of putting up the pole because I do not want to damage our ceiling (again brand new house) but am SO upset I spent over $300.00 on a brand new pole and haven't even been able to properly use it. It's such a pain in the ass, and I am hoping someone could direct me in the right place. Do you guys want pictures of the ceilings?? I don't know what to do, definitly need some help from you ladies who know what to do!!

    THANKS!

Thank you for the video! Unfortunately, I've already seen this one and I know how to put up the pole, just afraid of destroying my ceiling 🙁 🙁 I can put up the pole in a breeze, but am deathly afraid of tightening it…EEK!

You need to find the joist in your ceiling with a stud finder. Then you put the dome centered with the joist. If you aren’t sure how to find the ceiling joist you can prob find a video on YT!

I’m always really worried about this when I put up my x-pole. What I do is I use a stud finder to locate the stud, mark the ceiling. The measure 15 1/4 inches with the stud at 7 1/2 inchs. That way when I put up the dome I can see the outside marks and I know that it is centered and matched up with the stud. When your tightening it, I sometimes think that’s it’s coin really tight, however I have always Put it on carpet so you have to account for that. I think that you tubing how to use a stud finder may be helpful for you. I am no expert and I have moved my pole several times and it’s been fine. I also find that when you call x-pole with questions they are a great help.

On this topic though, I have recently moved my pole and the top attachment piece that goes into the dome will not come out. Does anyone know a trick on getting this out?

It shouldn't damage your ceiling! What I did to make sure I get it in the same spot everytime, is I made a pencil mark on the stud. You should mark the stud, put the pole up and mark where the dome sits, so that you know where it should line up everytime. If you don't over tighten it, you should be fine. The only mark the pole may leave is a "slight" little halo of a ring on your ceiling, but a little coat of paint will cover that. If you are really scared, you might want to invest in the ceiling mount that you screw into the studs. It would make putting the pole up way easier and it would eliminate your fears of ceiling damage. You'd just have to put a little spakle over the holes if you ever removed the ceiling mount (the screws have to go in a stud as well.) I do belive the holes of the actual mount are too far apart for a stud, so you'd have to drill some holes closer together in the plate to get them to actually fit onto a stud, but that is no big deal (home depot or some hardware store can do that I'm sure.)

Another option would be to go to the hardward store (a large one like home depot, etc) and purchase an unfinished wooden disc. They are about 1" thick and 18" wide. Place that between the pole and the ceiling when you put your pole up. You don't need to fix it in place – the pressure from the pole will keep it steady.

This will disperse the pressure of the dome better and protect the ceiling from any marks or scuffs.

I just wanted to say I have been very happy with my xpole on our very old ceiling in our victorian home. As long as you set it up properly, a drywall ceiling will be just fine…our ceiling is original 130yr old plaster and its been just fine! 🙂
