  • Elbow Hyper-extending

I’ve noticed that even after doing a long period of warming-up, that after about 20 minutes on the pole, my elbows (usually the left one but sometimes both elbows) will start to hurt. Sometimes it’s so excruciating that I have to stop doing all strength work.
I don’t feel as though I am over-using my arms. Some days, my elbows won’t hurt and I can dance for hours. But other days, I can hardly do ten minutes on the pole.
It frustrates me because a lot of times I don’t get to dance as long as I’d like. I’ve tried wrapping my elbow but that doesn’t seem to help. I ice my elbows when I start to feel the pain coming on and that usually helps.
I know in high school I would get tennis elbow a lot playing volleyball. I am thinking that this is the pain I am experiencing now as well.
I am wondering if it’s because I may be hyper-extending my arms. I can’t do a split-grip either because my elbows and wrists don’t feel strong enough.
I think that I hyper-extend/am double jointed. I think I’ve been hyper-extending my joints/tendons most of my life.
So now when it comes to pole, I am not sure how to not hyper-extend my arms. It’s a natural range of movement to me.
Anyone else have this issue? Advice would be great. 🙂 Thanks for reading.

Hi Milla wish I could give you advice but I have not had any elbow issues. Just wondering if its a certain move that causes the pain?

Thanks, pr1nc3ss. It’s not a move that causes the pain really. If I am using a lot of upper body strength, then it’s more likely to get irritated. But in general, it’s just some days it hurts and other days it doesn’t. Quite frustrating.
