Hi everyone. I am so estatic. Each month I set 2-3 goal moves. This month, I wanted to get the superman drop, front handspring into extended butterfly and shoulder mount. After 1 week of lots of bruising, I GOT ALL 3. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_cheers.gif I am so proud of my self. Not bad for a self taught mother of 3 ( twins of 7 lb boys each). At 41, I was diagnosed with osteo-arthritis of my lower back ( was constantly in excruciating pain). I was told to exercise my back muscles so I decided to take up pole dancing. It was a great choice because it kept me challenge to learn new moves, it is so much fun didn’t feel like exercise and I was able to take it to dance club in our area and shocked the shit out of people when I went upside down up at the pole. Best of all I lost 40 lbs and my back pain went away. I’m new to the site and would love to have friends in my profile. Thank you everyone for the great videos and fantastic forum. I HAVE LEARNED SO MUCH FROM YOU ALL. Joni

Congratulations! Those are some hardcore moves!
Your story is really inspiring and I’m really glad you told it. It’s also nice to see women who are around my age pole dancing!
And yes, you should feel very proud of yourself!!!!

What a great story! Congrats on your awesome accomplishments! I took up poling at the ripe age of 39 and am still amazed what our bodies are capable of! Here’s to all the dancers of all ages who set goals and don’t give up!! We wear our bruises proudly! (p.s. they say 40 is the new 20 hehe) https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_cheers.gif https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_cheers.gif

Thank you everyone for the kind words. Yes, I do have 2 goals for next month. I just received JK DEFY GRAVITY dvd and love the ball drop. I can do the fast spinning climb which is required for the ball drop. The ball drop starts of in a fast spinning climb 1/2 way up the pole then crouching into the fetal position and spinning while dropping down into the floor in the fetal position. Just love how it looks. Tried it yesterday and I only spun once around in the fetal position. And 2, her spinning swan in which she spin climbs fast up the pole and drop into the layback fallen angel crossed knee and spin it down to the floor.Really cool looking. This one may take me longer to learn as I do my fallen angel with straight leg, ankle cross. The spinning swan is only safe with the cross knee fallen angel. I will post on how it goes. I also have a 1 year goal hoping to accomplish for next year but working on it now. I would like to be able to do the splits or close to it. A lot of JK’s spin moves require the splits. I purchased STACY NEMOUR’s split and flexibility dvd and have been doing it almost daily. But I’m giving myself a year to accomplish this goal. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_flower.gif Thanks,Joni
