Excel for pole moves
Posted by Haloanne on April 13, 2015 at 1:24 amI have slight OCD tendencies and I love to keep track of things, so I created this excel file for pole moves that I’m working on. I figured there must be others like me out there, so I’ll share it! Here’s the link – you can copy and paste it to your own file (excel / numbers / openoffice etc) and make it your own.

This is just an example and these are just the moves I’m working on right now, so add your own to your file. I find it helpful when deciding what I want to work on and you can mark progress in the notes.

This is awesome, I love creating excel sheets for different things but never thought of creating one for pole moves. Thanks for sharing!

A spreadsheet for pole moves, fun. I’m playing around with it. One thing I’ve added is separate columns for right side and left side, so I can track what still needs work on the weaker side.
-
I actually added a “both sides” column to my own file to see just that – what tricks I can do on both sides and where the weaker side still needs work 🙂

Ooh, I’m also going to try dividing them up by type of move (strength, leg hangs, floorwork, etc.), so I can remind myself not to do too many of the same type in a row and overwork those muscles. That will also give me ideas at hand if I want to switch to a different type. Eg. enough handsprings already, but remember you wanted to work on yogini… (God, I am a spreadsheet dork.)

Haha! I know, spreadsheets are awesome! 😀 I did divide the moves at first too into strength, flexy, combo etc, but to me it felt like a bit of an overkill. Also, pole moves are surprisingly hard to divide into clear cut categories! But if it works for you, awesome 🙂 That’s why I shared, so everyone can make their own best pole move directory!

Agreed Haloanne! I have so many spreadsheets b/c it is so difficult to classify. I like you version better than mine because it looks cleaner & isn’t so overwhelming. Thanks for sharing!

yeah i started one of these awhile back too but gave up on it cuz the categorizing was making my head spin. this is an excellent way to do it! thank you!
-
i def added really basic moves to mine just to make myself feel better >_< hahaha
-
and an extra column for spin pole cuz i cant do everything on spin that i can do on static 🙁

Great idea! I wanted to do this too, but just the sheer amount of pole moves with their various names were overwhelming and I gave up before I really started D: Thank you so much for sharing!
-
Yeah the classification is really hard! Adding columns is an option, like “spinning pole” or “aerial” becouse somethings can be done only on the floor and not from the pole. I like the clean look, so I prefer to add these to a move’s name, like “shoulder mount grounded” and “shoulder mount aerial”. That’s just a personal preference though – just make it your own and use it however you like it 🙂

Very nice. I had been doing something similar…. and color coding moves “red, yellow, green” (attempted/want to attempt, progressing, mastered) but I haven’t done any updating to it in so long that its all moves like fireman spin…
You have a great list. Thank you!
