Only 12 days left of studying before my group exercise certification exam! It’s tough work though! I feel like I have to go over things again and again to remember! Any last minute study tips appreciated.

    Which cert are you doing?

NETA! It’s a highly recognized cert in Minnesota.

I’ve not heard of NETA, so I guess I can’t be of too much help to you. I have the AFAA which is what is popular in my area. I used to have NASM and ISSA cpt certs (that I let expire).
What I would suggest is make sure you know your muscle actions really well. Across the board, there’s always questions about muscle actions for any given exercise. NASM was pretty tricky about the questions (very in depth and easy to get goofed up on), but AFAA was pretty much giving the answers away (simple process of elimination could get you quite far). It just depends on how the test is set up for your cert.
If you have an opportunity to take a practice exam, I suggest doing it. I think the practice tests seem harder to me than the real thing. Also, I’m a flash card person. I can put anything on a flash card to remember. When I was in college I would pile advanced calculus or physics formulas on a flash card to remember them.
I’m sure you will do great! Best of luck to you.

Thanks for the tips! I do happen to be making flash cards like crazy! I’ll be sure to stay on top of muscle movements. I did purchase the practice exam as well, so I’ll likely be taking that next week when I finish the manual. There is so much to remember I can hardly believe it.
I was told that the exam will be 100 multiple choice questions. It seems that just in the book quizzes alone, however, that the answers need to be so precise. Especially the different heart rate questions. That’s what’s making me so nervous. I can’t fail this! I hate to be studying all the time but I’m definitely going to be stepping up my game for the next two weeks.

Oh, and there is a day-long workshop before taking the exam, so I’m hoping that will help cement everything in my head.

Ugh. Studying is definitely no picnic!

In dental school (and even in college before that) I would make a lot of color coded charts for things that required memorization. Sometimes I wouldn’t remember what class a drug was, but I’d remember it was written in pink, so it was probably XYZ. 🙂

    Good luck!
