Exotic dance shoe question
Posted by Sabina Rex on May 8, 2015 at 8:02 amI am really attracted to a pair of exotic dance (pleasers) shoes online, but they dont have the adjustable ankle strap. They are the slip on type. You know what i mean? For anyone who has worn the slip ons before do they fly off really easily or are they pretty stable?

Before I got mine I did a search on here to see how people felt about slip ons… and the feelings were mixed. I already had a pair with ankle straps, and sometimes I don’t feel like stopping to take them on and off when working on things. Like with the monthly challenges we were doing. I wanted to try certain moves or spins with and without heels back and forth.
After reading amazon reviews people said the plastic across the foot was pretty tight, and there were even tips about warming it up with a hair dryer to get the plastic to expand.
I did NOT find it to be tight, and I don’t have a particularly narrow foot. They aren’t falling off or anything, but I have those ball of the foot cushions for heels I may put in them if I want them to be tighter to invert or something. I would not want to size down or my foot would be over the edge. Oh and they are comfy to walk in. 🙂

I’ve only tried slip ons once before – they went flying off when I inverted and I almost brained the girl next to me haahaha ! I think they would be okay for just spins and stuff but I didn’t like feeling like I had to keep gripping with my toes =\ other people say they like them but I find them too much hassle for tricks, It’s hard enough in any heels and I need a good secure strap ! =]
but yeah I agree with allyson it is a pain having to faff with them when u want to put them / take them Off. Personally I am on the hunt for the perfect pair of slingbacks,. I figure that will be the perfect middle ground =] -
I have some Pleaser slip ons. I’ve never had a problem with them coming off but I’m also someone who takes shoes on and off during practise and I find it annoying to put them back on because they are kind of tight across the front of the foot so I have this foot wrestling process each time. I prefer slingbacks for practise but if I only had to put my slip-ons on once and leave them on until I was finished I wouldn’t really have an issue with them. If you have any local adult stores nearby you might be able to find some pleaser slip-ons to try so you can see if they suit you or not before ordering.

i think there are 3 different styles of pleaser strap – #701) just one wide strap, like in allyson’s pic above , #702) two straps across the top of the foot, but nothing around the ankle; still slip on and #708) the full strap around ankle with buckle.
#701 and #702 are both slip on, ive heard #702 with the two straps is a bit more secure =) -

Ohhh those are both pretty… I also think a pair of leg warmers that go around the shoe could help. 🙂

I have 7″ slip ons and I use fabric lengths to tie them around my ankle as they have come off and hit people in the past. But the strap over the foot doesn’t go up the foot very far, so it isn’t very secure in comparison to the pics posted here.
I much prefer ankle straps or, if I am going to have slip ons, the type that either have two straps (like the pics above) or a wider strap so it covers more of the foot making it stay on better.
If you’re not used to dancing in heels I would get ankle straps for sure- the plastic ones are pretty flexible but still give you security.
If you’re used to pole dancing shoes then give them a go, you might like them 🙂
