Hi all, I was just wondering if anyone had any tips for this move?
I’ve definitely got the flexibility for it now but I just can’t seem to get into the exact right position, I have a feeling it’s just a small shift somewhere and ill have it! Lol anything that helped you?

Do you mean the allegra with the back leg straight? It takes a deceptive amount of flexibility… I’m working toward it now and the only tip I can give is to turn out your torso as far as possible. If there is a “trick” to it I’d love to know but I think you just need to be a contortionist LOL. I have the flexibility in my hips for it but not in my back.

Yep that’s it exactly! Hmm think you are right, the flexibility required is pretty deceptive hey..*sigh* lol

When I perform the is trick, I have to be sure that my set up is precise. I have to make sure that the pole crosses my back where it is most flexible. Next I try to wrap my torso as far around the pole as possible before I grab my free leg. Once I have the leg, I focus on pulling my knee behind me (working the hip flexor), then extending the leg. If I don’t get my leg behind me, it won’t straighten.

@phoenix: Which hand grip do you prefer for this one, cupped or ordinary thumbed grip?

I’ve only tried the extended version with the thumbed grip because I thought it would be a little easier to reach my back leg where I want to with that grip. But on the other hand cupped grip is a lot safer and should make it easier to extend the leg without falling out…

Do you have any opinion on this?

Lina Spiralyne, I prefer regular grip (with the opposing thumb). I feel safer with this grip because it’s easier for me to engage my bicep, so I feel more in control.
