  • FIRST INVERT! Question?

    Posted by Legzz on August 24, 2011 at 2:03 pm

    I just did my very first INVERT! I'm pumped!!!!
    Just one quick question, is it normal to bruise my inner arm (up towards the armpit but closer to the elbow in that soft skin)? I know bruising in general is normal with pole but I want to be sure the spot this bruise is in isn't from poor technique?
    Thanks guys!

    I’ve never bruised there from inverting. Could just be that your technique needs perfecting or u did it frim some other trick you were practing

    Possibly.. Your post reminded of me when i first started.. I used to get bruises in the same spot all the time but I couldn't work out which trick made them.. you may have solved my mystery lol

    Congrats on the invert!!! YAY!!
    As for the bruise- I get the weirdest bruises in the craziest places. I have a massive one on the outside of thigh after last nights practice?! I don’t remember doing ANYTHING that held on with that part of the leg! Weird weird weird!
    Maybe post a video if your concerned about technique?

    yeah some of the girls i see them slam them selves into the pole as they kick up, also since you kick to go up ur gonna slam back down. the more you work on it and continue pulling you wont keep hurting yourself as much and those pruises will stop.  Same as your fankicks, dont just let urself drop/let your arms go limp to come out,  keep pulling, and use your core to slow yourself down and bring your legs down.  The less you are slamming yourself around the less bruises =)

    Hi AF, Do you have your hips infront of the pole and how are you getting your legs to the pole;

    A – Are you stepping back  swinging/throwing your legs up OR

    B- Starting from tippy toes, using your abs and tilting your legs at the same time( what i do)

    How much upper body strength do you have as this can help/hinder the move.

    Welcome to the world of inverts  Pole Sister  !!

    It's very possible to have bruising on your inner bicep (the upper part) if you start with your hands low and use that grip to help you roll up and tip back…which isn't necessarily a technique problem, in fact you want your hands low, especially at first as you're building strength.
