    Hey Fellow Polers,

I just watched Veena's lesson on forearm stretching.   Right now, I'm going thru MAJOR issues with a rough case of lateral epicondylitis (also known as tennis elbow) — it was so bad at one point the swelling of my forearm was 3/4" bigger than the other one, so I can't stress enough the importance of these stretches !  My very very bad for not paying more attention to this sooner !!!!! DO THE STRETCHES PEOPLE !!! we also include several forearm stretches at the start of class before warmup.  As V says in the video — if you only have time for a short stretch after poling,  THESE ARE THE ONES TO DO !!!

Here's the thing : once you have any tendon problems, you can't really get rid of them, all you can do is treat the flare ups, so best not to let yourself get injured in this way to begin with !!!!

I've used the pole in the same way one would use a foam roller for this soreness … what I learned from V's foam roller lessons is that it not only massages, it stretches!

And I second Judy's experience, I started with these particular stretches a year ago, after 1 year of chronic pain in my wrists.  The problem wasn't in the wrists themselves, it was inflammation in the forearms compressing the nerve that went thru my wrists.

Veena's lessons are not only a treasure they are a BARGAIN for the wealth of information contained therein.  And that reminds me, it's June … time for me to renew!

I also suffer from tendonitis in both elbows.  A few months ago my massage therapist started "stripping" my arms.  She does it above and below the elbow on both arms and it has made a huge difference.  I only get it done about once a month but my right elbow is almost normal and my left no longer wakes me up in the middle of the night.

BigStrongGirl — what is the 'stripping' you refer to ?  is that anything like the Graston technique, where they rub an implement over the area to break down the scar tissue ?

no implement is used.  The therapist uses her fingers to separate the muscles.  Not very pleasant but effective.
