    Hi everyone 🙂

So this may seem like a silly thing to ask, but when I watch videos of myself I can’t focus on my dance moves or spins because of the “deer in the headlights” facial expressions I make lol. It’s hard to feel sexy when I look so confused. Does anyone else have this problem? As much as I actively try to change it it keeps happening…does it just get better with time when I become more comfortable?

Lol I have the same problem! Im so busy thinking in my mind what I am doing that it does look like deer in the headlights. Maybe as I get more comfortable it will get better.

LOL, it’s totally normal, and if you look back at old videos of mine, you’ll see I dance very inwardly. I feel the dance and music but it doesn’t show in my face!

Record yourself (this helps so much) and watch how you move in the mirror. Practice looking up not down at the floor when you move. We’re actors and actresses too so facial expression are important. Don’t forget to post your first attempt videos because they give you something to look back on and see progress!

Pretend you have an audience watching you. Locate where they are and perform to that area of the room. Always be aware of your audience and where they are. It will be difficult to give face the whole time you are dancing because you may be doing a trick that requires concentration. So if you can only do it while you are climbing, pole sitting , walking around the pole, whatever- find moments to look at your audience and show facial expression. You will gradually find more and more moments to do this and it will come more naturally. Also, you need to be thinking something in order to show that on your face. When I perform for a showcase or something and let’s say it is a sexy performance. I will literally be thinking in my head something really naughty. I will pretend that I want to f&#k everybody in the audience and I am teasing them with my routine. Yes! Think extreme thoughts. If you want to show power. You’ve literally got to think in your head- I am the strongest mutha-f&%a EVER!! If you want to show sadness , pretend you are Rose from TItanic and Jack just died in your arms. You can’t/ won’t express emotions if you are not thinking thoughts in your head.

Oh my! This is so funny!! Yes I have this problem too!!! But for me half the time I can’t post the vid because of a goofy cockeyed expession on my face, it’s usually due to a move that’s requiring alot of strength or exertion. For now on I’m just going to smile thru the whole dance so I don’t ruin it. I made those cute cheesy smiley faces when I was a kid in balet tap and jazz class. Why can’t I do it now for cryin out loud!!!!!😼

lol! I can’t stop smiling I’m glad I am not the only one going through this weird case of uncontrollable face syndrome! Thanks for all the input, I’ll definitely keep recording and watch my progress. Phoenix that’s so funny and the best advice ever I guess I could get in character and give it a try! I think sometimes I just get scared because it feels like people can tell what I’m thinking about! No more blank stares! I’ll think thoughts from now on..I think any thoughts will do at this point!

Yeah, sometimes I just need to get comfortable with the moves first then add the emotions. Thinking about what emotion you are feeling makes it easier to show it on your face and makes it more genuine. Your audience will feel what you are feeling. Ever tried to do a big fake cheesy smile when you were not feeling that way at all? Yes, that sucks . And your smile looks crazy when you do that. Much easier to show happiness if you can warm up your mind and thoughts to feel that way first rather than forcing it.

That is exactly why whoever watchers us dancing please smile and cheer…. We need this positive attitude and not just staring. Whenever I dance I always find those smiles in a crowd and even blow kisses sometimes. Its silly but all it is is a transfer of energy. Smile and it will come back to you 10 times more so…
The other day I was visiting a strippers club and I felt exactly the way these girls fill. Man look in a different way there. So they have to perform and hassle while on a stage and off the stage. It’s very cold environment. So I tried to smile and cheer yelling Nice! all the time and noticed that it helps everyone to fill more human.
