Fake Lashes?
Posted by Rin Rin on January 4, 2011 at 3:36 pmI'd really like to try some fake eyelashes! But I've never used them before and am totally clueless haha I was watching a youtube video of a dancer who recommended "Top Choice" lashes as being very cheap but very good… but I can't seem to find them anywhere, even on the web. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_sad.gif Does anyone know of relatively cheap but good brands? And how long do they generally stay on? Any info on fake lashes is greatly appreciated since I have nooo idea lol

I bet glitterhips will have great info on this!
I love wearing them for special occasions and with costumes. I would recommend going to walgreens, rite aid, or even costume/adult stores. They can be very inexpensive, which is a great way to find which ones you like and which ones you don't – Buy 1 of each brand and just test them out!

There are some tutorials on You Tube , and I have only tried # 209 I think from Ardell ( targer) since my sister used them and they appear to be pretty natural looking than others. Not too expensive and a good place too start!

Hiii! Yes fake lashes can be tricky but if you know how to do them right they're quick and get easier with practice! Unfortunately for me I broke my foot and am in a cast for five weeks…but fortunately for you girls I have plenty of time to make a fake eyelash application tutorial for you tomorrow 🙂

That would be awesome glitter!!!!!
I just bought my first set and I wore them to a Christmas party and my bf LOVED them. He thought they were soooo sexy so I need to get good with these things. They were a little over the top but I don't care – I could fakies all day! It's just one more thing to add to the list of my false advertising https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif

I LOVE fake lashes…the bigger the better but I am CRAP at putting them on so maybe this will help!

Sarah of Diary of an Angry Stripper just did an entire post on this–and it's the most extensive, informative, and accurate read for applying false eyelashes I've ever seen.
Here's the link:

Oooooooh I LOVE false lashes! I was in a musical production of Thoroughly Modern Millie & we HAD to wear them & I fell in love!! Then in November I was in a musical production of Viva Mexico & we didnt have to wear them but I did!!! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_wink.gif
Santa even brought me some for Christmas! They're gorgeous! They had 3 little tiny jewels on the outer corner. The ones I use are relatively cheap and when you look after them (i.e. when you take them off, do so carefully, then pick off the glue & return them to the box you got them in.) I can get up to 6/7 wears out of my lashes cause Im super careful with them!! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_cheers.gif
I dont know if the ones I use are available in the US though. They're Girls Aloud ones? Do you guys even have that band over there?? Cheryl Cole is in it?? No…?
Ok so Glitter is gonna do a tutorial & zsah27 has posted a link to a blog about it so I wont add my method here. I have 2 little pieces of advice though, always bring glue & black eyeliner with you in case of emergencies!! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_wink.gif

OOOOOOOOOOOOPS I forgot the other piece of advice! LOL I actually dont apply mascara after I put the lashes on because I have found that when taking the false lashes off the mascara adheres them to my real lashes & Ive lost my own lashes this way! They also last longer without mascara on them cause they dont end up resembling spiders legs!! If you want to make sure real ones blend with fakes ones use a mascara brush with no mascara on it! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_wink.gif Just my 2 cents! Glitter might tell you different!

Trena that is really good advice! I will do a tutorial on applying the strip lashes and also applying individual ones since a lot of women have never used them but they are actually easier to apply in my opinion. And I think I might try to also do a stage makeup/performance makeup tutorial as well while I'm at it since I'm pretty much immobile lol
-
glitterhips – That would be awesome! I really appreciate it! And I think everyone would also be exicted about a stage makeup tutorial (I know I would lol) I am so sorry to hear about your foot though https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_sad.gif I hope you feel better soon!
zsah27 – Thanks so much for sharing that link! It was really helpful!
Trena – That is good advice. I suck at mascara anyway, so I would probably mess everything up the second I tried to put it on, so your advice for blending real lashes with fake ones is super!
Thanks everyone, for your posts! I'm loving the feedback!

I only tried fake lashes last year and I am hooked they are awesome!! I use Girls Aloud Cheryl Cole style, abt £4 a pack, they are long but not ridiculously long. They can be tricky but with practice like anything you will get there. 🙂

You know I love the look of falsies but my problem is that I have a latex allergy, and every glue I have found is a latex based glue. Do any of you know where I could find one that isn't made of latex? I would end up scratching my eyes out if I used the glue provided. I even bought a pair for haloween and as soon as I touched the glue to my eyelid my eyes turned red and started to tear…not good and YES I am also allergic to condoms lol ( I get this one all the time lmao)

Nymph…you make it really difficult for a girl to be good and not make a smart a$$ comment!
