Favorite High Protein snacks??? Looking for ideas!
Posted by JeHanne on June 5, 2011 at 3:56 pmHello all!
I am extremely bored with my nutrition and looking for some ideas for high protein snacks. Does anyone have some favorites they would like to share?
I am looking for snacks that would be fast to prepare and easy to travel with. So not blending or cooking.
Appreciate any replies!

What country are you located?
My current favorite is vanilla whey isolate mixed with orange juice. Tastes like an orange julius!
Oxygen magazine and Clean Eating magazine have lots of snack ideas.

Hi Chemgoddess1,
I am in the USA.
That is a great idea… vanilla whey with OJ… I could shake it up. Those are good magazines, have not subscribed to them in forever.
Thanks for the suggestions.

I have been lookinng into eating properly as a vegan. I found out that hemp seeds have all your essential amino acids, unlike other plants. I bought a bag of seeds at a health food store and add them to my breakfast every morning.

Careful with proteins…If you are a vegan remember Whey is a derivative of milk protein and so therefore is kinda considered animal protein in some circles. I would probably consider soy protein powder, check with your nearest vitamin shop or fittness store. 🙂 Hope this helps.

OH but if you aren't vegan or vegetarian I would go with whey isolate, it si fast absorbing and highly effective post workout. I like Jayrob or the gnc brands both are yummy. Jrobb actually makes a pinacolada flavor num num 🙂 ( tastes awesome mixed into plain greek yogurt or mixed with water)

I like greek yogurt.
I just got a reciepe for protien bars using my Arbonne protein powder that I'm going to give a try. BTW for those that are vegan Arbonne's protein powder and drinks are vegan as are all their products and glutten free. If you want more info message me, I'm a consultant for Arbonne.

I think I'm okay in the way of eating. I have enough variety in my diet to hit all the bases, plus I take a multi-vitamin everyday.

I have been buying Body Fortress Whey Isolate from Walmart of all places. It is $21 for a 2lb jar and is pretty tasty. Not all WM's carry the isolate. I buy the isolate because it has low cholesterol (for the hubs) and 30g of protein per scoop. Optimum Nutrition has a really good isolate too but it is twice the cost of the BF stuff.
Chia seeds are also a good addition and I will mix half quinoa and half brown rice whenever I make rice.
I have a vitamix so I am a big smoothie fan. During the summer my food intake greatly decreases and it is a way for me to get lots of stuff into my body.

A great vegan protein powder is made by Vega, myvega.com They also sell bars and sport protein powder. Love this stuff cause it has everything you need in one little scoop.
There is also a company called Pure, that sells raw organic fruit and nut bars, and they are to DIE for delicious!
I love snacks like sprouted nuts, bean dips, bean chips, etc. Check out a local health food store in your area. They usually have all kinds of delicious goodies.

ANother great snack recipe with clean foods and protein (it does involve some cooking)
SPinach and cottage cheese dip
microwave spinach and then add cottage cheese and microwave again stir.
Add garlic powder and red pepper flakes eat with almond crisps. enjoy! It's the only way I could eat cottage cheese at first and get some protein & veggies in for a snack!

Tuna. I just eat it straight out of the can. Cheap, easy, and with all the magic healthy buzzwords about fish.
