Some of us are cheap Nymph! I can buy cans of tuna at Aldi for about 60 cents, plus I like it 10x better than most of the store brands. It is BIG chunks of tuna as opposed to that fine crap that looks like cat food and you lose half of when you try to squeeze the water out.
Speaking of, has anyone ever tried tuna and bbq sauce? I know it sounds strange but it really is not bad.

lol I'm cheap too, but I usually buy the pouches for on the run so I don't have to find a place to drain them and I'm a coupon girl so I usually get them for less then a buck. When I buy cans I buy the white albacore I just like it better and we run it every couple of weeks 10 for 10 11th free.

Thanks Rocknbody for the recipe!!! I added spinach to my grocery list. I can handle microwaving… that sounds great!
I added tuna pouches to my list too. I like the flavored tuna pouches… even though sometimes they do remind me of cat food.
Will look for pure bars too for a grab and go snack. Great suggestions all, thanks!

I like Greek yogurt (the kind with 0% fat.) I'm a hippie and I make my own yogurt and strain it, but you can buy it premade in a carton. It has tons of protein and I feel better about it than eating powder. Usually I strain my yogurt until it has the consistency of whipped cream cheese — you can use a coffee filter.
I eat it plain with frozen fruit on top (I drop it in a Tupperware and take it for a snack later). It's also good with nuts, seeds, etc. For those of you eating tuna, you can use a big dollop of strained yogurt to make tuna salad instead of mayonnaise. I like adding dijon mustard and a squeeze of lemon. Or if I make it with chicken, a dash of curry powder or dill. You can also use it as a creamy sauce on noodles (saute garlic and veggies, add hot noodles, take off heat, and stir in strained yogurt until smooth.) It sounds weird but it's delicious. It tastes so sinful but is actually healthy!

Thanks lilblondie!!! Adding Greek Yogurt to my list, great ideas to use it. I was just thinking yesterday how I could make tuna/chicken salad without using mayo.
Ooooooh… so many options! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_cheers.gif

i personally love luna bars. most places that have protein bars carry them, they say that they are specifically formulated for women, but what i love about them is that they are slow burning and low glycemic (aka means that it keeps you full for a while and won't kill your waist/thighs/butt/random body part. I love the lemon zest and carmel nut brownie. also, another thing you might want to try with the whey powder is breakfast smoothies. take the powder, soy milk (or regular if you can't stand soy) and add PB and if you can stand it a little bit of bran cereal. you will be full till lunch and if you do chocolate with the PB, it actually tastes ok. bananas are a great addition. and smoothies, well, are cool and portable for summer. and last but not least, just eat deli meat. take a few slices of turkey and a few slices of cheese or else some mustard and munch on that. just make sure to skip the bread, thats where all the "nasty" carbs that will wreck what you are working for come from.
hop it helps!! i too look for tasty snacks, and being a bit bigger, im trying to lose a few, so these have always helped me in the past.

Don't know if anyone else is an Alton Brown fan, but I caught a rerun last night where he made these: http://www.foodnetwork.com/recipes/alton-brown/protein-bars-recipe/index.html
Sound pretty tasty/easy and you actually know what you're eating! Plan on making these as soon as I can hit up the grocery store =)

HUMOUS!!!! You can buy it or make it (with chick peas). It's got lots of protein! Plus, it's fantastic on toast or even better to dip veggies in.
My grocery store sells lots of different kinds too (sweet chillie and lemon & coriander).
They even sell them in small pots for lunches. If you make your own, you'll need to blend the chick peas up, but you could make a larger batch and then put them into smaller containers and bring in to work.
I sometimes even dip chicken pieces (non-breaded) into the humous if Im feeling like I really want protein!!!

I have a recipe I use with Sunwarior raw protein ( I eat a mostly raw vegan diet and its the only one that i have tried that doesnt taste like chalk), My favourite recipe for a smoothie is
1 scoop vanilla protein
1/4 cup goji berries soaked (optional but goji berries are a complete protein)
almond milk
containt roughly 26 grams of protein 😉

raw indulgence bars! they are 100% raw and organic (made from nuts, dried fruits, agave, coconut, cacao, etc.). and have 7-8 grams of protein per bar (depending on which flavor you get). they are available at most health food stores and are much cheaper than most of the other bars (only $1.79 each at our health food store). you can also make your own trail mix from nuts and dried fruits. i also love hemp milk.

I’m a vegetarian and when I can find them I like Primal Strips (faux jerkey). The mesquite lime and Thai peanut flavors are amazing; the others I don’t really care for.

just got back from food shopping. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_mrgreen.gif and OOps, i made a mistake on the name of those raw bars. they are called "raw revolution". the company is raw indulgence. also, if you are looking for a really high protein snack, Cliff makes a bar called "builders" which has 20 grams of protein! i find those kind of hard to digest though. for protein powder, i like "spirutein" high protein energy meal, strawberry. 🙂

Optimum Nutrition whey protein from bodybuilding.com. It doesn’t have tons of fillers like other brands, it’s a about 130 calories for one scoop, which has about 24g of protein and only 2g of sugar. The double rich chocolate flavor is the best, and if you mix it with ice its WHEY tasty (haha, couldn’t resist that dad joke)!

as nasty as it sounds, i LOVE cottage cheese lol. i eat it right before bed. Its a slow release protein and helps your muscles heal over night while your body is resting. It also makes your metabolism go all night ( well as long as it takes to release and then digest lol) It kills my cravings for anything i urge at night time.
