I’m trying to film an entry video for my studio’s pole contest and not believing how hard it is to get 3 minutes of dance recorded. Between music cutting out, running out of space on my phone, and just loosing my flow in the middle of dancing it seems there is always a catch. Anyway, thanks for letting me vent here. My personal favorite is doing floor work and having that farting noise when my back hits the floor. Or maybe that only happens to me😉 Any filming advice from my pole sisters out there? The music has to be live not laid over the video btw.

My best advice is to accept less than perfection 😉 I had to submit a video for a competition and I (of course) procrastinated badly and had to choreograph and shoot the damn thing in like 5 days between work and school etc. I shot over and over and over and it always seemed like something was wrong. And it got to be avout 11:55 pm the night it was due and its like “screw it, this is what I got” and it was fine and I made it into the comp and everything 🙂 point being, chances are you are not going to get a PERFECT video and that’s ok and the people watching your video are human too and understand that floor work can come with mysterious noises 😉 clear your camera out between every other take if possible, BACK EVERYTHING UP ONTO A HARD DRIVE, and don’t delete your “mess up” videos. Rewatch your “mess up” videos a couple days after they’ve been filmed (or even a couple hours) and you may be surprised to find that what you thought was a horrible blunder, was actually not that bad and mayne not even noticeable. So music cutting out: not the one
Floor work back fart: might just work! 😉

Great advice, thank you! I tend to lose perspective when I’m filming over and over. I gave it a couple hours and rewatched and was pleasantly surprised.

For the noise & music thing I would suggest, place the phone beneath the speakers and it will catch rather the music than the floor sounds.
