    Hi Everyone,
I think I’m finally going to be taking a pole dance class! I am so excited! I just have a couple questions, well actually the first question is one my parents have. Will it pay for me to take the class even if I don’t have a pole to practice on at home? What should I wear for the first class? Would yoga pants be okay?
    Thanks,
    Hannah

    Aww congratulations my lovely!
Now this is just my opinion but I think it’s worth taking the class even if you haven’t got a pole at home to practice on.
You might even find it beneficial to only be practicing in classes to begin with. I know that i really over did it when I first got my pole and my arms have suffered ever since and have only just started to be on the mend. Your body will probably enjoy the chance to recover before the next session.
Also my friends who took my class with me, never had poles at home and they all picked it up just as easily as i did, if not quicker!
Of course it would be nice to have a pole at home but it’s also good to take the hobby for a test run before you start investing.
Wow that went on longer than i intended but i hope it helped.
As for what to wear, I don’t know what other classes have been like but i wore trackies with shorts underneath just in case, sports bra and trainers.
Goodluck with your first class hope you like it x

It is SOOOOO easy to overdo it at home if you have your own pole, especially in the beginning. I know that I was doing things that I probably should not have been doing for lack of strength and I have also injured myself on numerous occasions.

I would contact the studio and find out what they would suggest for clothing.

Thank you so much for replying. What you both said makes sense. I wouldn’t want to overdo it on my own at home, which is something I would probably do. So I have another question. Would it be okay to take a class if you are overweight? I’m trying to talk my mom into taking the class with me and she says no and her only excuse for not wanting to is that because she is to heavy. Do you think she could at least still give it a try?
    Thanks for your help

Not to draw anyone out but you really need to show her minicoopergirl’s video’s. Lulu has lost over 60lbs pole dancing and she ROCKS the pole. Whenever anyone tries to use that excuse I point them in her direction. There was another girl that Empyrean had posted a video of that was plus size that was doing stuff that just amazed me.

ALL women are beautiful. That is one thing (of the many) that pole has taught me.

You don’t have to be a specific weight for pole dancing. In fact, it’s a great way to actually lose weight and tone up! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_wink.gif

You’ll really enjoy it – difficult to begin with, but so much fun when you nail a move – and loads of fun in general. I have seen women of all shapes and sizes in my classes and nobody cares who or what you are because everybody is there to get fit and have a good time doing it. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif

I didn’t have a pole for the first three months or so when I first started doing classes. I just went once a week and, initially that was enough for me as I hadn’t done any sort of exercise for years and years. I knew when I needed to get a pole as I felt safe enough to be practising moves done in class on my own and was finding it slightly frustrating that I couldn’t. The classes were a good way to see if I would get into it or not before I splashed out on my xpole.

Good luck with everything and tell your mum to give it a bash – it’s so much fun! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/bom.gif

I did tell her it would be fun! She said she will think about it and give me an answer tonight. I hope she says yes!

I’m fat and I pole dance my heart out! At first I was losing weight but I stopped for a while so I’m right back where I was but it’s so much fun that after the first few minutes I felt like a supermodel. I have to wear booty shorts in front of people which I’d never do but I don’t even think about it in pole dancing class.
