Hello polers 🙂 hope you’re all well!
Well I had my first pole dancing lesson today! Feeling battered, bruised and aching all over but it was totally WORTH it! I’ve never felt so energised after a workout and I even managed to conquer the crucifix 🙂 (despite only letting go of the pole for a fraction of a second!) I guess there is such a thing as love at first sight! 😉
One question I do have is pole size. I have TINY hands! I tried working on the 50mm (x-pole) first but my hands just weren’t gripping, so I tried the 40mm and it felt much better. However I do have quite chunky legs and hips! I’m buying a pole in the near future and I was wondering if a 40mm pole would be suitable for my shape/weight as well as my tiny hands? I don’t want the thing to come crashing down on me once I start inverting etc.
Any advice is much appreciated 🙂
    Happy poling, polers!

I have a 50 but I have really long finger,s but I do like the feel of the 45 too. Im thinking 45 may be better for your hands and maybe overall. Im sure more experienced polers will chime in. Welcome!

Go with what is comfortable for you. When I started there were only 50’s but I have big hands. I HATED 45s until about the last year and now I kind of prefer them. 45s seem to be taking over.

I’d suggest a 45mm if you have small hands & 45’s are pretty standard in the pole community now.

Depends on how small your hands are. Unless you have really thin legs, going smaller in diameter leg wise shouldn’t matter much; the body adapts. Personally I like 40s and 45s and can work on both. I have small hands and thunder thighs.

Thank you for the advice guys! Been looking around on X-Pole and E-Bay but they all seem to be out of stock of 45’s at the moment (everything really!) So will wait around until something becomes available 🙂 Having my second studio lesson tonight and cannot wait! 🙂
    Happy Poling, polers 🙂

Be careful with ebay. There are a lot of knockoff x poles on there. Better to go through x pole, or studioveena.

It is my understanding that XPole had a flood at their manufacturing facility back in October so they are just starting to get back online now.

WOW! Crucifix in your first lesson- amazing!! Sooo pleased you’ve got the pole bug, you’ll be butterflying in no time!

I have tiny hands too, I started on 50’s in class and never even realised that 45 existed! I have to say that on a 45 my hand grip is much stronger, but I personally like to try what I’m least comfortable with, get good at that and you’ll be able to do anything! Happy poling! 🙂
