Fitpole
Posted by Silviakay on August 19, 2012 at 11:31 amHi there!
Has anyone try a fitpole pole? I'm thinking about buying one from this brand because my xpole, after one year, is too slippery for me so I would like to know your experience with this one or any other brand.
Thank you!!!

Hey Silvia! Ya know, I thought my first xpole was “too slippery” too but I soon found out it was just me! I wasn’t warming myself or the pole up long enough. Lots of spins and whatnot. Try that before you give up on xpole. They truly are the best! (in my opinion) What does you average warmup consist of?

It looks like this girl is using them…but I could be mistaken. I don't know what to say, honestly.

In watching the vids, they look pretty sturdy to me.

Now I'm not so sure those are the same pole since the bases look different from the poles on the official wesite: http://www.ahlsport.com/www/naytakuva.php?id=111

I agree with SashaMae. Check to make sure your cleaning the pole well and warming up the pole and your body too. Unless you dance in a warm space most poles will not have very good grip until you warm them and you up.

Oona Kivela uses one here: http://www.lansivayla.fi/artikkeli/78513-oona-kivela-saa-tangonkin-tanssimaan-katso-video

I've used Xpole even on my pole classes and warmed up about 30 minutes; nothing worked 🙁 so i'm going to give a chance to fitpole.
Thank you for all your advice!! 🙂

silvia – Just know that powder coated poles can be too sticky or just right. It's a toss up, but if it is too sticky, there isn't anything you can do, and it hurts a lot. Slipperier poles can be overcome by grip aides at least.

When I was in Finland, Fitpoles are what they had at the studio that I rehearsed at. I didn't have any problems with them.

You're right https://www.studioveena.com/users/view/4d39f85b-a244-4a56-88c0-768b0ac37250 but It seems that Xpole doesn't work for me 🙁
https://www.studioveena.com/users/view/4d67f2e2-eaa8-4507-95fc-26170ac37250 : So Fitpole ones are less slippery than Xpole? and what about stability? Same as Xpole?
Thank you!!

this is going to sound crazy but you should by yourself this http://www.rmfscrubs.com/product.php?productid=411 parmolive green soap… it is actually a mircal worker. If you wash your hands with this and your body evven if its just before you get on a pole you will wee your pants at the difference.
My pole instructor discovered it.. i used it just before my first performance in front of people and i made it the whole way through without slipping once! this + dry hands you can't go wrong. My instructor had private students who no matter what they did they wouldnt stick and this has helped them. Also i like to put a little dry hands on my palms and while its still wet wipe it all over the pole! this helps too.
Ive also heard that if you cover your pole in itac 2 for 24 hours then rub it off its meant to help. My home xpole i have issues with aswell the studio ones are all scuffed up and old which really helps with grip. But before you waste money on a new pole please duck to the supermarket and pick up this soap!!!!! 🙂

I also at least for my hands periodically wash my hands with soap when I pole. (haha it's good living in a tiny 1BR like that…the bathroom is right there.) It's funny how that soap scum film that commercials make fun of ends up being a good thing. =P was it ivory or lever or something that claims they don't have one?

Brass poles are the ticket!!! they have way better grip than chrome!
Our studio went all brass, and we also got 3 skinny brass poles!
