Flooring for pole room
Posted by jmrossi20101683 on February 23, 2014 at 10:37 amHi! I am fairly new to the page. I am looking to replace carpet in my pole room. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance.

Wood flooring is the best!! Great when wearing shoes and allows you to move easier for floorwork.

I just got a pole and my husband is worried it may ruin our newly refinished hard wood floor, any suggestions?

I agree with u Smoore. I have hardwood floors. I love them. When I moved into my apartment I was afraid it might scratch or dent them but it hasn’t. Hasn’t done anything to my ceiling either (except the circle I drew around the dome with my pencil lol). Also the floor isn’t as slippery as I thought it would be. I even waxed it after putting up the pole because my pole was the shiniest thing in the house (45mm chrome xpert) heehee The only time you might sleep is if you’re in socks. You should never dance in socks! Shoes or barefoot and hardwood is so COLD

*slip not sleep It should read “The only time you would slip is in socks”

Hmmm I am worried about real wood. Does anyone dance on laminate? I didn’t want grooves in floor. I don’t mind ruining the floor the room was built to dance. 🙂 I miss my heels! I want to know what studios use. What’s that stuff?

A quality dance pole shouldn’t damage a wood floor, however your heels could if you do a lot of toe drags. My favorite flooring is wood floor or laminate “wood”.

If you do go for a laminate flooring, I would recommend a light colored finish rather than a dark. My new condo has dark laminate and every scratch and dent is sooooo obvious because only the very surface of the laminate is stained dark. I’ve manage to mark it up just from my toe nails. I’d hate to see the damage heels would cause.
