Floorwork help!
Posted by HilaryKate aka LolaSlaytor on April 15, 2012 at 3:24 pmSo I came across this awesome poler on youtube and although the majority of this particular video is just wayyyyy beyond my capabilities right now, there is a piece of floorwork that he does that I have been trying to figure out and I just can't get it! I was hoping someone might take a look and maybe have some pointers? Or post a tutorial on youtube and send me the link?
It's at 1:06http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1lmejPu2CPk&list=FLBQ_nY3sz13lZcxptMrVPhA&index=1&feature=plpp_video
Thanks!!

He is amazing!! I’ve seen some of his vids before but that is crazy! That’s a pretty intricate piece of floorwork…If noone else can break it down for us I suggest watching it in slow-mo over and over again and break the moves down to segments then string them all together (I know, harder than it sounds :|) But hopefully someone can show us! Thanks for sharing 🙂

isnt he ADORABLE!!! i loooveeeee him
he only put one tutorial on his channel, what you could do is save the video and replay it really slow to see where he gets his momentum from
ive never see anything like him before…

He goes into a shoulderstand from on his back, turns onto one shoulder, hooks that SAME side foot on the pole (the OUTSIDE of the foot), then rolls the foot on the pole to keep his legs up and in position as he rolls over the shoulder. He keeps rolling, over to the opposite shoulder while the free leg threads through, and that leg is the one he plows over to do the shoulder roll at the end.
It's a great move! Looks like hand/shoulder placement is really important on this one, or they'll get in your way as you try to roll from shoulder to shoulder.

Good break down polergirl, I just watched it a few times pausing and unpausing to get a slo-mo version of what he's doing. Like most things, I think it looks more complicated than it really is. Definitely going to try this one!

Note: it's his outside foot/outside shoulder that he starts on. I bet this would also be neat done with the inside–it'd pivot your body like a breakdancer. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_rambo.gif

Yes, he used his outside foot and rolled over the outside shoulder, turning his hips away from the pole. If you started with the inside foot/shoulder, you would have to turn your hips towards the pole…not sure where you would end up for that one. Maybe rolling "around" the pole to end up on the otherside, it'd be an interesting variation if you could make it work.
