    Your doubts are, unfortunately, incorrect.

Then forgive me as well. I’m not denying the humanity of people that believe they’re untouchable and godlike, but I sure do find humor in the irony of it all. My toes are always out of line when I’m trying to make a little point. I can’t defend that.

It is certainly ironic! And I love that you see that 😉

I apologize if I came across a little strongly! I think I neglected to feed myself >_-

My boyfriend is always catching me on that one.

No offense taken! I just have problems w/ clarity and end up going on-and-on w/ details. Just wanted to make sure people knew I was talking about the type that piss in your cereal and then expect you to sit there and eat it. Those who just prefer Wheaties to Lucky Charms in their own bowl are okay in my book.

Ughhh…there I go again! Fruit Loops are in my bowl today, obviously. haha

I know exactly what kind of people you are talking about. I once posted a photo of myself stretching a straddle split (without my toes pointed… because I was flexibility training..) and this girl just unleashed on me in a comment. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_eek.gif LOL

I thought you were supposed to flex your feet as well as pointing them when doing leg stretches to make sure you properly work the muscles?

@ Raven, I’ve never heard that before but it would explain why it cures my foot cramps after pointing my toes too long.

Me, personally don't like the term 'Foot-Nazi' as I find it in poor taste. The word Nazi for me depicts images of the holocaust.

I think an another term could be used to mean the same thing.

Many of our Canadians died fighting in WW2.

P.S. I wanna keep my toes even though I cramp up like crazy and tried many things but it's like anything. I have to train my feet to point due to wearing nsg shoes since '87, and a broken foot. Just be patient with me and well don't look at me if I am not perfect. I am not poling for you but for me.

Yeah, well, I didn’t invent the stupid phrase but if it weren’t for poor taste I wouldn’t have any. I didn’t mean to offend anybody w/ this damn thread, I just wanted to maybe find other people who are sick of having their minor flaws mercilessly scrutinized over.

I innocently used a similar term (grammar Nazi) while I was studying abroad in Japan. I had no idea there was a German student at the table. Everyone tried to explain to him that it was just a common American figure of speech, but he was already offended. I felt terrible, especially since
I studied German all through school.

Since this is an international community, I can imagine many people may not be familiar with the slang use of “Nazi” in America and may also be upset by it.

Am I the only one who finds irony in the fact that the thread started with someone saying essentially "Don't take things so seriously" and now people are picking on a simple choice of metaphor?  Let's try and keep the thread on track and discuss your perspectives on whether pointed toes are important or not and under what conditions.

I know you didn't mean anything by the term "Nazi" it's a common American saying. Being that this is an international site it's totally fine that someone mentioned that it could offend someone, but I know Serzi didn't mean anything by it.

We are all human and make mistakes. I type so fast sometimes I use the they're or their wrong. It's not my problem if someone doesn't like what I do or who I am, it's their problem. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_wink.gif

I feel that pole dance should be about self-expression and be taught as a positive tool enabling us to learn more about ourselves and possibly others. Focusing too much on perfection takes away from that.

    Okay, I’ve got one.

    Foot-vultures.

Anyone have a prob w/ the word “vulture”? …I kinda do. Those things follow me everywhere I go like they’re hoping I’ll drop dead of exhaustion one day.

Btw, THANK YOU to Veena and Webmaster. I did not mean any harm or for this to get off topic. lol

i think its completely different to tell someone who takes offence to a word that historically carries a lot of weight (especially given that many people are still directly affected by WW2 and the actions of Nazi Germany) that they should lighten up and not take things so seriously; compared to someone being overly analytical of someone else's dance technique.

i have absolutely no doubt that Serzi did not intend to be offensive in her use of the term, especially given it is apparently a common slang word n America.

That does not mean though that someone who doe get offended is overreacting or being silly. A simple "sorry for offending you" is all that is needed. no need for excuses etc.

language is hard to navigate sometimes!!

ANYWAY… i don't have a prblem with someone reminding me to point my toes once i've accomplished a move; but when they do it and i've only just done the move for te first time!!? let me be excited!!!!

p.s…it really hard typing on here with an ipad! am i the only one who thinks so?

At Bobbi's pole studio where I am having lessons, one teacher in particular will say "I don't want to see any of *this* and then she will show us her flexed foot 😉  We also get reminded to smile (but reminded in a nice way, not critical).  Bobbi's is all about making things look pretty – several of the teachers are ex-dancers/performers – and it shows 🙂
