I have a question.. Might as well get this out in the open… I’m 230 lbs, 5’7".. Everyone tells me that I don’t LOOK near my weight, but I think I look like a cow… lol.. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_cry.gif Hence the reason I don’t have any pictures or videos on here. I’m just too embarrassed about it https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_redface.gif , but I have to say my weight because it relates to my question.

Question: Am I too fat to do pole dancing in my own home for weight loss? Or should I get some of the weight off before doing pole dancing? Is there any at home poles that I don’t have to install permanently that will support my weight?

I’m hoping that I can, but if I can’t, that’s ok. It will give me a goal to get to. The reason I’ve taken a liking to pole dancing is because it looks like a challenge, but also looks like fun!

    Please let me know! Thnx!

I can relate to you on this topic!! I’m a plus size poler as well. I will warn you that it will take some time to build your upper body strength — that goes for everyone! — but it has really motivated me to eat healthy and to get into better shape. In the beginning I got frustrated and was tempted to quit for a couple of months to lose some weight but you can use poling as a way to lose weight!!! I found that doing P90x and poling really built my strength up quickly! Between poling, P90x, and being in the gym I’ve lost about 14lbs. Poling has really changed my life! This is the longest I’ve ever been into working out. I probably lost more weight than that, but I didn’t step on the scale until I started P90x.. I try to avoid the scales!!!

You are right, poling is very challenging, but because of that it is VERY rewarding!!! I say go for it!! And don’t be shy about posting pictures or videos!! The first video you post, you will cringe and be totally embarassed, but after you get feedback from other veeners, you will be hooked and addicted to it!! Now I don’t think twice about posting videos and I’m a very shy person! Go for it! !You wont regret it!! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif Happy poling!

Poling is for people of all shapes and sizes! I know for a fact that an x-pole will support your weight as I have seen many plus size polers use them without a problem. Poling is fantastic for your confidence because you will see your body being able to do things you never dreamed of! It is also a great way to lose weight. I have lost about 14lbs since getting into poling propery. (note: I have now put back on that weight but that is because I havent been poling properly since before Christmas because my life was hectic and I had a hamstring injury but Im getting back into it now cause I wanna compete soon!) Poling made me more aware of my body and therefore made me strive towards a healthier shape and lifestyle! I hope that you do decide to take up poling but dont forget to consult your doctor before taking on any exercise program! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_wink.gif

No one is EVER TOO FAT FOR POLE!!! Im in the same shoes as you – im 5’4 and I weigh in at 250lbs. Ive been doing this for 4yrs and im a frequent poster to YouTube. Theres alot of love and support in pole – more than youd think youd ever receive. Its hard, dont get me wrong there are days I get fustrated b/c I cant do something but I keep pressing forward. One day the aha moment happens and BAM! pole move!

Im a big support of Xpole! They can hold the weight! I tried thier X Stage at Pole convention and it held up with me! When I go places w/poles thats my number one fear is having the pole tip as im on it. Ive also been told if you permently mount the pole it has a bigger weight limit. Also Hardcore poles out of ATL has a higher weight limit as well.

Big girls can pole too! I’m also a bigger girl that loves to pole! I have an X-pole and swear by it! I can swing around, flip upside down, and do all sorts of tricks with no worries about it falling down or anything. Just like everyone else its a lot of work but you’d be amazing at what you are able to do if you stick to it! Post pictures, dont be shy, these are some of the most supportive people here…you wont regret it! Good luck to you!
