  • Forearm numb after pole last night…pinched nerve?

    Hi all

Had a great week of poling this week, practised intermediate moves both Tuesday and Thursday night. BUT, this morning the skin on the top of my forearm is numb and I can feel a twitch occassionally when I move my arm. I know I've probably pinched a nerve (mildly, as there is no pain and no major loss in strength or anything) but I have no idea where! Neck, shoulder, bicep?

If anyone knows what might have caused it or ways to fix it, I'd appreciate it!

Off to physio, I think it's the best way to fix it!

Good luck at the physio! Hope it isn't too serious! I feel sore all over after my sessions LOL and I just always hope the next day they are gone so they aren't serious! Never had numbness (yet…)

I've had a little bit of numbness/twitchiness after pushing myself some, but it's always gone away within an hour! I never knew what exactly it was, I hope your numbness is nothing serious!

This happened to me a couple weeks ago, when i was practicing non stop & rehearsing for a performance.  It went away on its own after a couple days of rest.  Please do let us know what the Physio tells you so that the rest of us know for future reference! Hope it's just something mild like it was for me! Good luck!

Fortunately my physio says it's nothing serious, a slightly pulled muscle in my forearm. Unfortunately it's still bugging me 3 days later 🙁 But not badly, I can still exercise, it just twitches if I straighten then bend my arm, and some of the skin on my forearm is still numb. I have a follow up appointment on Wednesday with my physio.

And in chatting to my poledance instructor about it, she said "Was it from Invert Barbie?" Duh, that's exactly what it was! We did a really long tricks class on Thursday night (probably 2 hours plus of trying moves and then watching/ learning, etc) which is a lot longer than I'd usually do. And I did 3 invert barbies (not sure what you guys call this, elbow grip, other hand overhead, similar to Aysha but body against pole not away from pole).

So now I know what caused it and I know to take it a bit easier!!
