Does anybody have any suggestions? It can be drugstore or department store. I am just overwhelmed with how many products that are out there! I like powder more because its easier to work with but my powder foundation isnt really working for me anymore so I am open to liquid although frankly I am scared of liquid. I am on 2 harsh acne medications that have dried out my skin and the powder just accentuates my dryness which is mainly  underneath my eyes. Maybe I just need a really good eye cream so suggestions for that would be appreciated too. I don't have a lot to cover because my medication has done its job. Thanks everyone!

I have combination skin – although I am prone to acne so my face does tend to get dry and flaky if I'm having a breakout and using more acne medication than normal, so it sounds like I'm in the same boat as you.  I used to use mineral powder but it sits in my wrinkles after a few hours and by mid day I look older than I am – no thanks 😉  So with that being said, I also have SUPER sensitive skin, I'm allergic to fragrance and most sunscreens.  I've used the brand Clinique since I was 12 because they cater to sensitive skins.  It's a little pricey, but every time I've tried a cheaper brand like Almay or Neutrogena, I've been disappointed and at times, down right miserable with an allergic reaction.  Hypo-allergenic does not mean that no one will ever react to it!  Right now I'm using two Clinique liquid foundations, both are OIL FREE and fragrance free and have an spf 15 that doesn't seem to bother my senstive face.  I use one for day time, it's sheer coverage called "moisture surge" – but no worries – it does not cause breakouts.  The other is more coverage that I use for going out, night time, etc. or just when I want a more "made up" look.  It's called "even better".  Thier mineral powder is nice too, did not irritate my acne or sensitivity, just didn't like it in my wrinkles.  If you don't have wrinkles then no worries!

Thanks daisy! I am not a fan of mineral makeup either. It just did nothing for me. I used to use the Clinique superbalanced but it doesn’t provide enough moisture. Maybe I will try one of the ones you recommended. As far as department store brands go Clinique is one of the lowest priced. Maybe I’ll give them another go. Thanks again!

I have dry and extremely sensitive skin (and I have eczema that's prone to breakout)…I highly recommend BB Creams (aka Blemish Balm Cream)!!  There are many different brand out there and there are different kind for different type of skin.  I'm currently using Missha and Skin79, they are both very affordable (under $20).   The only "problem" with BB cream is, you should exfoliate your face once a week (I use St Ives Apricot Scrub) because even if you clean your face REALLY well, they will still be residue accumlate on your skin.

The good about BB cream: they are excellent for sensitive skins, they have SPFs in them, once they "set" they are matte (so it's like an all-in-one…you won't need liquid foundation and powder…etc.), the price is cheap for the quality (at least the 2 that I recommend)

The bad about BB cream: they don't come in a lot of colors, so you will need to do some research and test the color.  I'm Asian, medium skin tone and I'm using No 23 in Missha (they come in 3 colors), as for Skin79, it only comes in 1 color.

Another "trick" about BB cream is, they oxidate.  This means once you put it on, the color will change in 10-15min, then it just sets.  For example, when I apple my Missha/Skin79 – the color looks greyish and light…but after 10 min or so, my skin looks radiant – the color matching is just perfect.

Don't just take my word for it – do some research on your own.  But, if you were to buy BB cream to test the water, I suggest you start with Missha and Skin79 (the Pink SKin79 is for oily skin, the Gold Skin79 is for dry skin).  Also, most importantly, there are A LOT of fake stuffs out there so becareful, if you want, I can recommend a couple of places to buy them online – they directly ship them from Korea and I'd been using them for the past 3 years…no issue at all ^_^

    Good Luck!!

I have super sensitive skin, so hope this helps. This is my routine.

I was using Tea Tree Cleansing Face Wash by Desert Essence Its all natural. ( I stopped using it about a month or two ago b/c the herbal smell is too much for me right now being pregnant but plan to continue right afterwards). Best buy ever. I buy the big oz. (maybe 32 oz?)bottle and just refill bottles b/c it is $14 and lasts 6 mo! It totally transformed my face. It removes everything! I even get rashes from time to time when gardening in the summer and I wash with that and instantly, my rashes disappear.

I use pure tea tree oil as a toner in the T-zone.

My moisturizer is just by Hawiian Tropics, kids 60 SPF-no preservatives or anything and it lasts 2 years(for about $10). I am a licensed pro and by far, this lotion transformed my face also. Better than even the $60 helioplex sunscreens that we get.

I just started using an under eye cream for $14 on amazon. It is royal bees wax jelly for wrinkles. Not too keen on the smell, but hydrates nicely. Not using for wrinkles, but just for a boost in hydration.

For foundation, I just started using Vapour Organic Beauty. I love all natural products and using the minerals, I get jealous of the "glowy girls"! I found this on Amazon and had to try. They have a starter kit of foundation, a base and a cheek color for under $30. I have to say my skin is even better when I take it off, than when I put it on.

I am pregnant right now, so not using peels, but before I was using a 15% TCA peel as a toner 1-2x a month( I didn't even flake from it, b/c my skin is super resisitant) For some, that strength would be really high, so start at 8% and work your way up to it. I used to have problems w/ cheeck breakouts, but not since using that. Just remember to work your way up to that strength if you try this. PM me with any questions.

No more breakouts, and all pink pigmentation of past breakouts cleared right up. Good luck!

I’d like to second the Clinique Even Better. I have dry, sensitive skin, prone to excema, and use anti-acne medication which dries my face out even more.
All powder/mineral foundations do is make me look ‘dusty’. Many liquids are no good either, because they set on the flaky, rough skin and make me look scaly (reptillian is so NOT a good look). Even Better is the first one I found that sits well, doesn’t make my face feel like I washed in olive oil, and actually sets rather than coming away on my fingers every time I touch my face.
As with everything though, your milage may vary!

I have horribly dry and sensitive skin as well… the best foundation I've found is MakeUpForEver Liquid Lift (unfortunately they don't sell it in Sephora… but look online, or if you have a MUFE store near you, hit them up!! :P), also Smashbox has a new HD Healthy Skin foundation that I tried yesterday and it turned out pretty darn good!

But if you like powders (as long as you're not going to be on camera), Bare Escentuals seems to be the best so far, followed closely by Smashbox's Halo Hydrating Perfecting Powder… I tend to go for higher end products, but they're worth the money!! 🙂

First thing you should try, though, is MUFE's HD Elixer… it's a miracle product!! 🙂
