So after taking a break from pole for a few years I’m planning on starting again.

This is where the problem comes in. I used to have a 50mm chrome xpert but a few years ago there was an accident which broke both the pole and my arm (not the fault of the pole).
Now I need to buy a new pole but the house I live in has high and questionably stable ceilings and very springy floor boards so I’m not confident using a tension mounted pole again, leaving me to believe free standing is the way to go.
I can’t find many reviews online and my email to xpole has so far been ignored so I was hoping that someone on here has any experience using a stage pole, specifically the x-stage lite.

My main worry is that it will wobble too much for me to feel secure or that I will bend it because I’m heavier.

I’ve used multiple stage poles and currently have the platinum stages star stand alone. They no longer make/sell this stage though. I used to have a regular x-stage. I’ve used the x-stage lite and as far as stability, I feel like stage poles are fairly stable feeling. You are going to have a bit of sway which is normal as it is not affixed at the top. I don’t particularly notice the sway personally during my practices.

I remember you it’s nice to see you back! I’ve got 3 stage poles PS and 2 x stages, light and regular. They all have sway, you’ll get use to it, but I have worked with a few people that were scared of the movement, but it’s something you could get use to. I’ve not seen a pole on the x stage bend or break.

I’ve often wondered about the lite myself, but the reviews are so mixed that I am hesitant to spend that kind of money again. I have a classic X-stage (which has served me well) but I would love to have full use of my floor and ceiling height. That is the one and only issue I have had with my X-Stage is limitation of space to maneuver comfortably.

I am a larger woman as well, but the X-Stage is rated at 200 lbs and I have managed to stay well enough under that. (Although I used to weigh over 200 lbs a long time ago, before I started dancing) Idk what the specs are on the lite, but I’d be impressed if it were rated higher.

These stage poles aren’t flimsy and I have even tried some doubles work w/ a friend. Still, when it comes to safety and feeling safe I don’t recommend pushing it too far too often w/ these poles. They have considerable sway and I was shocked by how thin the metal is when I had my b-pole cut to fit my ceiling height. While it will not bend, is very stable, sometimes the feeling as it sways is unnerving or at least makes me feel heavy and I don’t like that. Rest assured, though, it sways no matter who’s on it. I’ve had girlfriends that wear extra-small and size zero get that pole swaying just as much as I do. It’s just because it’s free-standing.

Thanks everyone, I really appreciate the help and I’m glad to be back 🙂

I think I’m going to go ahead and get the x-stage light. I called xpole earlier today and asked about the max weight and apparently there isn’t one so that’s good to hear. Hopefully I’ll get used to it pretty quickly, I’ll just make sure not to look at the sway in the mirror while I’m spinning.

Really? No max weight? I have to study up on the lite more.

Well, congrats on your decision! X-Stages are the best free-standing poles I’ve tried and I’m sure you will love yours. 🙂

I have the xPole lite stage and I’m happy I got it. Easy to put together and options to make it longer or shorter. Depending on your moves it’s noticeable but you get use to it. If you want to feel more stable, extend the legs. I was looking at the plates you can add for weights but that’s because my pole might go higher on what I’m trying to do. Good luck!
