I’ve recently switched from going to a pole studio to SV online lessons at home. I rarely got dizzy at the studio I was going to even if we were working on a spin over and over. But at home I get dizzy just waking around the pole. I’m wondering if it’s because I am close to one wall in the room so I have to keep an eye on that wall… doesn’t make sense but that is the only thing I can think of. I have plenty of room the rest of the way around my pole and nice high 10′ ceilings. Any suggestions? It’s making me crazy. I can’t even make it through 10 minutes on my pole without feeling dizzy.

We’ve been discussing home poling issues earlier here on the site and have learned that it’s normal to feel strange about it in the beginning. I think it is the different spacial arrangement that gives you trouble as you’ve been used to use the references at your studio while you’ve been learning. I don’t find it strange that the wall you’re refering to is “all you can think of”. I’m sure this will pass if you keep training at home continously. Make sure to warm up thoroughly also at home because lack of warm up can cause a whole lot of unnecessary problems of many kinds. Are you maybe doing a lot of spins and pole walks in a row? I think often when people home practice they don’t realize how often they repeat things they are comfortable with. It sounds like you have the lessons, are you following the 30 program, doing combos or routines, or just working on your own?
