Barefoot is always best so that’s great your learning that way first. If your looking for boots something without zippers is best if you have a Chrome or Titanium finish on your pole. Matt finish boots will not grip the pole well at all and can be even more slick than skin. Some leather boots will grip, but if your looking for the most grip go with shiny. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_sunny.gif

Thanks, Veena! I have a stainless steel pole. The boots I am looking (thigh high) have a zipper on the inside. Would they be okay for stainless steel? I will definitely get the shiny ones.

yeah SS it more durable…I have worn zippered boots on my chrome and TG and as long as I’m careful its fine. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif

I have a question: I always tried poling barefoot, and that’s ok, but when I try to turn (under pole turn, etc) seems like my feet glue themselves to the ground https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_evil.gif (better than mighty grip https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_lol.gif ) and I get stuck half way and don’t get the turn right. What do you do so your feet slide better??? (I have a wooden floor, and with shoes, it all goes well). Please help, my routines are all messed up because of my feet https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_mad.gif

I have footundeez and I love them. They are black with rhinestones and they work wonders! They help me not stick in turns and I can still climb and do all that fun stuff. Plus, I get compliments on them all the time. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif

OMG, I can only speak for myself and how I started. I went for fun to an introductory class and knew I wanted to continue. After the introductory class, when she showed us what we were going to learn, I literally would crack up!! She said we all had the "deer caught in headlights" look. Every new thing, I felt like ‘yah-right’? But I was able to accomplish, not everything we were supposed to, but I got what worked for me. I started at 53 yrs old, by the way. After studio closed I self-taught myself from youtube, then THANKFULLY found studioveena. The help here and her online lessons have been a lifesaver for my pole experience. I also take workshops when I can.
I also felt everyone was so good and naturals when I started here, but as someone said we are all levels, etc. I am learning slowly and use pole for fitness/strength, not so much dance part of it. It’s just what works for me. So as others have said, have fun, work at your own pace and be safe. I injured myself attemtping kicking into inverts before I knew proper way as taught here. Veena’s lessons are in order, and I still skip some because I just don’t feel ready to attempt.
Enjoy and keep us posted!! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_thumleft.gif
