So while reviewing my pole repertoire, I realised that I know little to no pole spins. As a beginner, I learned standard climbing, crab, ckr, etc. But because my pole at home is static, I don’t every really get the chance to experience a lot of spins. or there are spin holds that I practice at home for when I go to the studio (for instance, the pose for martini and the horrible twisty pose for roxy spin). Are there any good true spins, not just poses, that I can practice on a static pole? I’ve just nudged myself into the intermediate section, but I’m willing to try anything, sometimes advanced clicks better than intermediate anyway, and I know my limits. Thanks :3

Can you clarify your question? If you look at the lessons for spins there will be a static pole part and a spin pole part (at least in the newer/remade ones). I don't know what you mean by "true spins".

My pole gets real sticky real fast (and I like climbs and tricks better anyway…hey, it's for exercise and I can do what I want!) but in the beginning before it's too warmed up, my favorites are the cradle, carousel, standing fireman, and when I'm feeling awesome I attempt reverse grabs and chopper spins. 🙂

@CapFeb – Technically, spins are performed on a static pole.  Veena's lessons cover spins from beginner to advanced that all use a static pole.  Veena also has spinning pole holds in her lessons, I would recomend getting the lessons and taking a look at that to increase your repertoire.

Spins on a static pole just require a bit of momentum to keep you going, a spinning pole isn’t needed at all. Look at a few of Veena’s lessons or on YouTube to get an idea of how momentum is gained for a spin! All you need is your own body weight.

@teapartie: I can do spins with momentum on a static pole fine. But I feel as though they look rediculous. Chair spin on static as compared to chair spin on spinning looks bad in my opinion. It’s completely possible to any of the spins I listed on static or spinning. But there are some spins that I see preformed almost exclusive on static (reverse grab, for example) and I’m basically asking for suggestions on similar spins :p

not sure how many spins are static only, but I personally think that spin combos on a static pole look more impressive than on a spinning pole. 🙂
