This is actually nothing to do with dancing, but I figured if anyone knew about grip aids, pole dancers would! 😉

Getting wet makes me dry out. Seriously. If I shower or wash dishes, no matter how much moisturiser or baby oil I slather on afterwards, within half an hour my skin feels like paper. It's particularly noticeable on my hands, and the fact that of course I wash my hands regularly only makes it worse. The trouble is that with bone-dry hands, I can't get a grip on my drumsticks at all. There's just no friction, so they slide straight out of my palm!

At present, my solution is a small tube of liquid paraffin-based emollient in my back pocket, but I have to reapply it regularly. Even worse, my tiny tube is running out and I can't find anywhere to buy pocket-sized tubes of moisturiser! (These were a freebie from a drug company, so maybe I'll have to start rummaging through the bins outside doctor's surgeries. 😉 ) So I thought about pole grip aids. But all the ones I can find, and all the advice I've seen online, are aimed at drying out people's hands and that's the opposite problem to the one I have.

So can someone recommend a grip aid that moistens hands, instead of drying them up? Or a really incredibly fantastic moisturiser? Or some way to stop me drying out and shrivelling up like dessicated coconut when I come into contact with water?!

I like Itac2 for my hands. It is not drying and it does not take much at all! I use on my body for grip and moisture.
