Grip issues

I am new in poledancing and I am looking for some good grip help. I could order “Dry Hand”, “iTac” and “Mighty Grip”. Which one is recommendable? I have absolutly no grip and it is my biggest problem on the pole. Or shoud I buy some gloves? What are your Experiences? What is causing your grip problem will determine what you need. If your hands are sweating, then dry hands or tite grip are the ones used in that scenario. If you just have dry slick hands, then mighty grip or platinum grip are good for that. itac can get a little slippery when it warms up, so it isn't as good for hands as it is for the body (in my opinion.) I have excessively sweaty hands that sweat through all antipersperant grip aids, so I use mighty grip gloves, but if I could I would go without them becasue I like the feeling of my hands on the pole without material in between. I suggest trying the antispersperant grip aids or other grip aids first (depending on your problem) and if that doesn't work, then try the mighty grip gloves.

The first thing to check is…have you warmed up properly? Very few poles will be grippy if you have not properly warmed your body and the pole. This is very important for injury prevention as well. Cold pole, and cold body = no grip. I have a warm up in the lessons designed for warming your body and pole if your interested.
If you have sweaty hands try "dry hands" or gloves. Itac can be nice for Points of Contact, but will get greasy for many polers if you put it on hands. If you can dance without grip aids it's nice, because you don't goop up the pole. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_flower.gif

Thank you for your help. I usually do polesport after a run. Today I noticed that it really grips better with a warm pole. But it is far away from perfect. Does it get better anyway when I get used to the pole? When my hands get stronger? Thx!

It does get better as you become stronger. Also, some pole finishes work better with certain skin type and climates. Another thing to try….Some polers find they stick better with a very clean pole, others like to have a little build up on it. I live in a very HOT humid environment. The saying goes, “we’re heading south for the winter”- well i like to say,”i’m heading north for the summer” Lol
Anyways- i use tite grip 30minutes before pole and then use dry hands. Tite grip is exactly what sensual said- its an anti persperiant. I personally HATE my mighty grip gloves. I have tried and tried to use them and i do not like them. Not to bash the product or anything- i personally cannot wear them for a pole session. Maybe they just havent been broken in?.. They make me slide down…
I can tell you- the stronger you become the better your grip will be. Polers can throw on all the grip aid they want, but if the strength is not there then the move cannot be executed…
I have taken my pole journey very slow because Its not about how many tricks you can do in one practice. Its about enjoying what you do while you are doing it. And building strength to eventually do the tricks you would like to do when you are ready. This has just been MY personal experience with pole!

The gloves I use are with tack. I haven't tried the ones without tack for doing tricks. I would imagine they'd be more likely to slide and be better for spins…

That is weird. I have the opposite problem where I have to pull my hand to get it off the pole. Weird…My pole is a PS brass (which you have too correct?) Maybe the weather has something to do with it. It's been rather muggy here.

Yes i have brass too… I read something a while back that need to be broken in… But i cannot get past using them to actually break them in. It also feels like its harder to keep my hand squeezed around the pole… I dont think they are too small- because they fit just right… Maybe i will give them a try again just to see

They do stretch a bit and work with your hands after using them a while.

Strengthening your hands and forearms will help you a lot. If you go to a sporting goods store or a rock climbing shop, they should have a range of items that you can use to work your grip. I have a red squeezie ball that lives on my bed that I try to use every night. Veena also has some good tips for working on your grip in the Lessons, if you have them.
