I loved her performance, and I agree a little bit with what everyone here has said. Poling is just dance and this little girl is fantastic with great strength and flexibility. However, in our country, the pole has become a sexualized object. Men from all around have seen some of the objects of their sexual fantasies twirl around the pole, so that’s how they they will always view poling. Unfortunately, as much as we would love to make everyone look at it as a sport, that isn’t going to happen with everyone because of poling history in America. We may be able to get a few people to see that it takes a special strong individual to be able to pole, and that it really is a skill, but many are going to only see it as they have always seen it, as an object used to seduce men. Adding an underaged child to that mix in this country would be a pedophiles dream and cause a firestorm of criticism. She is great and we all know it, but unfortunately everyone doesn’t look at poling like we do.

Wow she's amazing. She's my new favourite pole idol! I can't find anything inappropriate about her or her performance at all. It's totally appropriate. I see more inappropriateness with kids in jazz, hip hop or other kinds of dance! 🙂

She’s amazing…definitely puts me to shame. 🙂 I would totally share her video to fb if it weren’t for the risk of someone with the wrong intentions. She is a great example of what sheer strength and ability it takes to pole is…nothing dirty or sexualized about her routine at all. I hope she has a great time of poling ahead of her!!

the owner of the studio i train in has a very flexible daughter who wants to pole but her mother is sending her to gymnastics instead because she says she's too young to pole. She wouldn't be taught to dance sexy but her concern is that pole dancing my build her body while she's growing…she says it's better if she starts pole dancing at 12 and not at 8. my question is..doesn't the training for gymnastics do the same?? If there already are girls around the world poling at 8 years old then there's nothing wrong with it, right? has anyone heard anything about pole dancing not being good for kids or why it would be better for them to train doing something else till they are 12? I'm sure this person is not worried about the issues about it being sexy but more related to the way it shapes your body.

Ok I just watched this and my first reaction was 'I would not be letting my 8 year old do that' not because its pole dancing, as I agree, kids dont associate it with sexy and she was not doing a sexy routine, but merely for fear of her falling from the pole and breaking her neck! Kids have NO FEAR!! And the way she throws herself into that routine demonstrates that.

My fella said, it is only the same as wanting my child to do gymnastics and whilst I agree, gymnastics is a recognised and regulated sport, instructors are accredited and have to meet professional standards particularly with regards to health and safety which is paramount – as a parent you can check the instructors credentials so to speak, which I am not sure you could be so sure of with pole instructors? I know that wouldnt prevent your child from breaking their neck but at least its harm reduction.

    Just a thought….

She does look awesome though, fair play to the girl 🙂

    My future child…

Hmm…I would probably let my kid do it, since it isn't sexy or inappropriate. Might be a good lesson for her to choose to do something for her happiness and health without worrying about what other people think or say. As for the pervs, the pervs are going to fantasize about little girls anyway…as long as she isn't inappropriate, I think it's their problem, not hers. I mean, you basically wear a bathing suit in gymnastics and you wear a short skirt while doing flips and kicks in cheerleading. What's the difference?
