  • HELP! What kind of pole should I buy?

    Hey Ladies!

I need your suggestions on what pole I should buy. I've heard too many stories and watched too many youtube videos with girls falling on their necks because the pole didn't hold up!

So, I have an 8 foot ceiling in the room I want to put it in. I have carpet and I'm not a small girl so I will need something that can support my weight, which is 180. I found some poles for like $125-$150, but then I saw most other poles are between $300-$400. So I'm assuming the ones for the hundreds may not be the best choice?????

Please give me suggestions and places to purchase these poles! Thanks! 🙂

Cheap poles are going to be the ones that fall down or break on you.  Don't be afraid to invest in the expensive ones, the Xpole and Lil Mynx poles will last for years.

Veena had an awesome article on choosing a pole, but there isn't an articles tab on the website anymore.  She references it in this thread, but the link doesn't work anymore.  *Requesting good link to Veena's choosing a pole article.

This thread sums it up very well.  https://www.studioveena.com/forums/view/Things_to_know_BEFORE_you_buy_a_pole_2009-07-17_024327

I've always been in the upper 160s to mid 170s.  Lil Mynx and X-Pole have been completely solid for me.

ANY pole can fall on you if it is not installed correctly or checked before use.  There was a thread here just recently where someone had their X fall on them.

Stay away from peek a boo, Electra, flirty girl and one that is called "my pink pole" or something to that effect.  These are strictly props and while they can handle some things, once you get into some of the more advanced moves will show their "worth".

And as a side note, I bought my Lil Mynx used 3.5 years ago for $140 and I could probably sell it today for the same price.  A good pole will hold its value and will not be difficult to sell if one day you decide to do such.

I have a platinum stages pole and I love it. They are a bit more expensive than Xpoles or lil mynx but in my opinion they are worth it. I would recommend that you first figure out what you want in a pole; spinning or Static, 38mm, 45mm or 50mm, stainless steel, chrome, titanium gold, brass or powder coated. Then find the brand(s) that suit your needs and choose from there. It’s alot to think about but totally worth it if you only plan on buying one pole.

Thanks so much! At least I know where to start now and what poles not to buy. I'm really glad you said don't buy the Electra because a guy in an adult store tried really hard to pitch it to me but I got a bad feeling because it was so inexpensive. I was checking out the flirty girl too. So XPole, Lil Mynx and Platinum Stages Pole are good.

    Thanks again!
