Yes Legend your right. The move I first posted was starting on one side then flipping over to the OPPOSITE side. You can do a Full Cartwheel and Full Roundoff on the SAME side of the pole as well. The top hand should be holding the pole tumb down/true grip. There sould be no twisting of the wrist for any of these moves.

Here is an old video of me working on the full cartwheel and Round off …I show the difference between the two towards the end of the video. 4:20 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pVI52As_K3Y

I'm glad Veena brought this up…with the split grip your wrist will not stay in neutral alignment and therefore it will hurt and possibly result in injury. Either way I think you need to let go sooner as Wolf does to avoid pressure on the wrist as you come to the opposite side.

That said…I tried this a few times last night at the studio and just kept thinking I was doing it completely wrong as I could not flip into it at all. Now looking at the video I wasn't doing it wrong, I just coulnd't get it! LOL

It's a bit confusing when you're up there!

oh great Veena! I havent seen that video before. Round off, so thats how its called 😀 great!

I have a similar problem, i can do a cartwheel off pole, but i do it to the left and I do a cartwheel mount to the right side of the pole… go figure.. been trying to do the full cartwheel with no luck, but I liked the way you progressed into it, going to try that.

and as a side note… you did all that for the first time in those 5 min?! damn… thats amazing! 🙂

@Legend, I just posted a video of one of my first tries, using the split grip like you did in the first video you posted.  It doesn't seem that bad, but I feel like your hips got much farther to the other side of the pole than mine are.  Do you have any tips?

Also, please excuse me if you hear my sniffling or snorting in the video 🙂  It's a sick day!

it looks like you are lifting to the side. You need to lift forward in order to be able to push back in a 180º to the oposite side of the pole as you descend.

I'm not quite sure what you mean.  Do you mean lifting to the side initially?  Or when I start to try to flip?

yes, initially. to make the "turn" you need to step forward, behond the pole and lift in order to have enough space to open the move and return back to the other side. hard to explain better in my poor english sorry… also its not an easy move, takes some strength and a great deal of ballance… lots of practice 🙂
