I just got a 50mm chrome X-pole and I may have a problem. My ceiling measures EXACTLY 9'. But the pole seems to be somewhat unstable at its maximum capacity. Has anyone had an issue with this? I am kinda disappointed at the idea of having to buy an extension before I use my pole, especially since I waited so long to actually get it. Ugh…

Odd….my x came w a lot of extensions. But I don’t know enough about them to help you. I only had mine up a short time. 🙁

Sorry you are having troubles. I've got 9 ft ceilings and bought an x-pole back in March. I did have to use all the extensions, but it works just fine for me. I had to unscrew that thing for a long long time to get it up there snug though. I have had no problems with stability at all. Sometimes it will groan a little bit, but I never feel as if it is unstable. Does it flex a lot, or do you feel it slip on ceiling? Mine does flex a teeny tiny bit. I only notice it when I watch someone else spin on it though. I think due to nature of pole, and given amount of torque on middle section, it will flex teeny tiny bit. Did you make sure you were right on a joist?  If not exactly on, the sheetrock can flex, too.

Yes. It is flexing. I installed it another room that has a 7.5″ ceiling and no flexing. I think that perhaps my Sheetrock may be the issue.

More than likely, your ceiling might be a smidge over 9'. That was the case with mine. I was not comfortable having the pole at it's maximum like that. I was also afraid it would cause warping after a while. I order the 500mm extension and used it in place of the 250mm that came with it.. It was perfect!! The 500mm extension is not at all expensive.

Yes, I think that is what I will do. It fits very nicely in my bedroom, but I don’t want it there. The space in my living area is perfect for poling so I guess I will wait till I get the extension to begin poling again.

My current ceiling is 8’4″ and it’s all cement so I can put my pole anywhere and its so secure, I love it. But I’ll be moving this Friday to an apartment with 9ft and I’m very worried about it being sturdy. I might go ahead and purchase the extension just to be safe.

I had the same issue with my 9′ ceiling. Xpole told me if your ceiling height is at the very top of the height range for a pole, then go up to the pole for the next height range. I got the extension piece and had no problems. Mine was sturdy without the extension but the xjoint cover did not cover the entire joint.
