I was wondering if anyone's tried the lil mynx portable pro pole? The one with the alligator case? Apparently it has a mount which uses only friction. I'm wondering if this is sturdy. I'm also wondering if where it cuts off at the midpoint of the pole is at all bothersome to people. Doesn't seem like a lot of people have this one, so just wondering why.

Unfortunately I've not got one, but I have TRIED one! Way, waaaayy back when I first touched a pole, I'm pretty sure it was one of these. Bachellorette party for a friend 😉

I never found the pole to be unstable, though to be fair, I had barely gotten the hang of the half-spin by the end of the evening. I do, however, tend to put a lot of weight into that little spin, and I've been known to take other people's poles doing it (usually people who are a lot lighter than I am!).

So, no, I never found any problems for learning the very, very basic little moves on it. It didn't move or shift at all.

I have one. If you want to use it for spins and tricks with just the pad, don't bother. I you plan on mounting it with the scewed in ceiling mount, then it's like any other lil mynx, just easier to store. I got it cuz I can't screw things into my ceiling. I tried doing a front hook yesterday and it almost came down on me. The friction pad isn't sticky enough or wide enough to be secure. I think it is made to take to parties to play on, but they give you a perma-mount to affix it to your ceiling. I like that it is easily stored, and I'd be totally happy with it if I was allowed to screw into the ceiling here.

My 1st pole was a lil mynx pro pole.  I loved it!  I learned everything on it and never had issues with it coming loose or coming down.  I only used the tension friction mount not the screw.  I have had mine for 5 years now and even had one in my studio intil a few months ago because I needed to put up another 45mm pole and didn't have any space.  I still have the pro pole and it still works as good as the day I got it!  I find it much easier to use and without the problems my x-poles give me!

meybe they changed the ceiling pad? I have mine installed correctly and I cannot kepp it from slipping. Maybe ceiling textures make a difference. I have a fairly smooth ceiling with only a little texture.

They haven't changed the pad, but, but I do think a smoother ceiling would have a problem for holding.  I have heavy popcorn textured ceilings.

That probably makes all the difference, so I should say if you don' have a heavy textured ceiling, it will slip on you if you do anything on it other than pose.
