I’m trying to get into the keem (you can look it up in Pole Dance Dictionary) from an extended butterfly where you lower the back leg down to the pole and nestle the pole into the inside of your inside arm with the legs in a half straddle/half split down the pole position. I know I have the flexibility for it because I can do it from standing but I’m having trouble getting a good enough grip with my arm that I feel comfortable holding the position when I’m actually on the pole. Anybody have any tips?

I think that leaning out rather quickly so that the upper body becomes horizontal is what gives the stability in the straddle. Because if you’re instead a bit rounded in the back you’ll risk to “fall in” to the pole and then the armgrip will not be as reliable! That’s my experience with this move
