Hey all :). So I have two firsts…one being this is my first time joining a site dedicated to something I’m interested in, so the whole online forum thing is new 🙂 Also, after years of wanting to take pole dancing lessons….I am finally going for my first lesson this Friday!! 🙂 I am so excited!! I have read many of the forum entries here and watched many of the member videos and you are all just so inspirational and helpful and friendly to each other that I finally got the courage to start my pole journey 🙂 So thank you to ye all!! 🙂

I have some questions relating to body confidence and toning. Aged 18 I was 5stone heavier than I am now (70 pounds). I lost the weight slowly through weight watchers, and while I am now slim, I have absolutely no definition or toning and am actually quite squishy lol 🙂 I was just wondering if any of the girls out there started with a similar story and how long it took to see results?

Any advice or suggestions greatly appreciated 🙂 xxx

Everyone starts out differently. I know I had lost a bunch of my muscle tone in college and started poling right after that. I could barely hold myself up. Poling WILL build strength. Don't worry about it. Just go and have fun. If you struggle at first, just know that that is normal and you will overcome it with time as your strength builds in your body and hands.

I used to be an obese child (weighted almost as much at 8y old as I do now) I grew out of it.. .literally.. and went through an eating disorder on my late teens. Didnt do any exercise for 10y before I started pole dancing (and not much before that either to be honest). so… I was just skin and bone, no muscle at all! I stuggled to lift a 10kg bag of dog food! It was hard at first.. not going to lie, very very hard, but worth it. I started seeing small results after just a month and so far I've gained over 5kg (even though I look skinnier than before). My advice, dont give up! If you already had the strenght to loose that much weight I think you will get the body you aspire, just be prepared to work really hard for it! Happy poling 🙂

I agree- its tough when you start- dont compare yourself to others when you go to class! I remember my first class and trying some things that I htought loked pretty simple and got discouraged when i couldnt do it- Just know its normal in the beginning- but be persistent in your efforts and you will be amazde at your progress- you kind gain momentum- Its slow at first to build those muscles- once you get goint, you bio;d strength, confidence- and nothing will stop you! I dont know if you cheked out veenas lessons at all too- I do those as well and her strength routine really helped me in the beginning. Good luck o your journey- welcome to our community and keep us updated in your progress! Videos are a great reminder of where youve been also on those days you get a bit frustrated- just look at where youve come form- even now w your weight loss and be proud! Its a journey so enjoy the whole ride!
