    Hello everyone,

I am Toni or you can call me BE (short for bluntedessence). I came across this site from one of the girls I pole with. I have been pole dancing for 4 weeks. I think its great fun. I have been wanting to pole for about a year now but things were always coming up or me just procrastinating. So now I have made time to pole. I plan to buy me a pole in the next couple of weeks, so that I can practice at home since the classes I take dont allow us to practice much on the poles outside of class.

I am 30 yrs old, have 4 kids. I also hoopdance (just started about a couple of months); zumba, yoga, pilates and study meditation.

    Hi Toni!
I’m from VA as well! Where do you go for classes? I’m from Charlottesville, so I go to E-Fit Dance at Shergold.
I’m coming up on 35 and have 2 kids. I’ve been poling for 3.5 years and love it! It’s my sanity, so I hope you get to enjoy it as much as I do.
We are having a peformance/workshop weekend here on Jan. 30. If you are interested let me know. You’ll definitely be able to meet some other pole ladies!
Good to see you have you on the site! I’m new too!

Thanks Desha for the invite and welcome. I would love to come to the workshop, however, I have committed my saturdays for 6 weeks starting January 16 to hoopdance. Im trying to perfect that art so that I could be certified to teach it. But some of my hoopdance workshops take place in Charlottesville, so I know Im a be down your way soon. I attend classes for pole dance at Dance with me Dance center here in Herndon, Va. I will be taking up classes in the future at Chic Physique. They have a nice line up of chair and floor routine classes, other than poling. So Im very interested in the art of seduction through dance. I just moved to Ashburn, Va; near dulles Airport and noticed there is more interest in pol dancing here than in Woodbridge, Va, where I used to reside.

    How old are you kids?

Where do you take hoopdance in Charlottesville. I thought about that for a while too but pole keeps me pretty occupied right now!
I know Tina from Chic Physique. She’s lovely, and I think you’ll enjoy her classes. We dropped in to one of her chairdance classes and it was a lot of fun.
My kids are 4 and 2- and are very efficient at driving me crazy! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_lol.gif
Definitely keep me posted on your travels, especially if I can do anything to make your stay in Charlottesville easier.
I guess you are enjoying the snow too?

Not liking the snow at all. I’d like to visit snowy area but not have it where I live and work. lol.

The hoopdance workshops are not at specific locations regularly. It is wherever the instructor can secure a spot. They had a spirals workshop early dec. But it was more for experienced hoopers. Im not even close to figuring out spiraling. Im still trying to get chest and shoulder hooping down. I recently took the hoop path workshop with Jon baxter and it was amazing. However, I cant do any of the tricks he showed just yet. I usually get the heads up about hooping activities through my meetup groups. The community is pretty small right now in this area.

Tina from chicphysique huh? I’ll keep that in mind when I go to register for classes. I plan to take the morning classes as I work nights.

All kids drive their parents crazy. Mine are 12, 11, 7 and 2. Thats a handful, I tell ya.

Thanks,I will definitely give you a heads up when I make my travels down there. It probably wont be until spring as I just signed up for a blitz of classes for january and february. Im so ready to show off my skills.

    Hi BE,

This is Tina (chicgirl) from Chic Physique! We would love to have you come by and try out our classes. I am always looking for hoopers! I have 5 kids (21,20,19,15,10), I think this is why I have a studio (needed a place to run and hide). LOL. We are closed because of the weather and the holidays but we open back up on Jan 3rd. So come by and check us out!

    Happy Holidays!
    Tina

Hello BE…I’m also from VA! I live in the Norfolk/Virginia Beach area. I am completely new to poling as well. I’ve heard so many great things about it that I just have got to try it. I plan on educating myself thru studioveena…when I finally get my pole. I wanted it for Christmas but I guess I was on the naughty list https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_scratch.gif don’t know how that happened lol We have a place down here called studio rio but looking at their website you have to take a whole bunch of other classes before you can move onto the pole…it’s more of a stripaerobics kind of thing i guess. Deshaballer suggested a place for me to look into. Have a Happy New Year and happy poling!

I realize this thread has been dead for a while, but I'm from Virginia Beach and wanted to check in with other polers in the area.  I go to STUDIO RIO'S TWISTED FITNESS  and love it so much.  You can just take pole if you like, there's no prerequisites of any kind, they have the best pole in the area, imo.  Love to know if anyone else here goes to there?

I am typically a Respectapole girl in Hampton, but I bought the Rio groupon so I’ll be heading across the tunnel! Can’t wait to see the studio- it looks awesome!

Hey, MooneyHammer & Legs4Days!  Just like y'all, I pole at home using Veena's vids and I also go out to pole in a studio.

Look forward to seeing you at Studio Rio Mooneyhammer.  I started out with a Groupon there and just signed up for a membership because they have great poles and instructors.  The poles they use are about 47mm and powdercoated.  Which I like, because I find brass just rips my skin up (I use 45mm Titanium at home).  They also offer so many other stripper classes, I find it easier to go and get better everyday.  Been poling for a year now and it really shows, I've lost almost 40 pounds doing something I love that doesn't feel like exercise.

Yep- I’ve lost 30lbs so far and am loving it! I just got the Veena membership yesterday and pretty much spent all day trying out new stuff- so awesome! The only thing I don’t like so far about Studio Rio, and mind you- I haven’t actually stepped foot inside yet, is that the website can be a little confusing… There’s so much going on. So many awesome classes- so little time! I was thinking about trying to go to stripper stretch on the 18th? I’m so so very, laughably, far from getting a split that I really want to have some in person idea of how to improve. Have you been to that one?

I know what your mean, Mooneyhammer, about being overwhelmed with Studio Rio's calendar.  I was that way at first but when you go in they give you a sheet of info with all the class descriptions on there, because sometimes the names don't let you know what the class it.  Like the one called "Skitzo." https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif

I've been to the Stripper Stretch twice over the past 2 weeks and it's a great class!  I was surprised to find out how flexible I am.  Everyone there is super encouraging and friendly.
