Posted by ashleya on November 24, 2015 at 2:00 amMy hands are really slippery.. What can i do besides grip gloves. I dont want to have to rely on gloves.. Any natural remedies or anything else i can use besides gloves.. It makes it hard for me to grip the pole and i keep sliding.. Please help

Everyone’s body chemistry is different, so you may need to experiment to see what works best for you. The weather, and the pole material also come into play. I have sweaty hands in general. I like to use Dove Clinical Strength Deoderant on my hands before I go to bed. If it’s a humid day, I may also use Girlie Grip, which is similar to Dry Hands. Do you pole at a studio? Maybe they have some grip aides you can try. Otherwise, you can buy them online.

Hey! Are you taking classes at any of the Cleveland studios? I know all 3 carry a variety of products and you can typically try before you buy. Dry hands is probably the most popular (not a fan myself) but there are a ton of products out there. Tite Grip is an antiperspirant that you use regularly and I know a few that layer products. My personal favorite is a product called liquid grip which dries and gives tack at the same time. I do not have super sweaty hands though.

There are products on the market that will temporarily keep your hands (any any other part of your body, face included) dry for longer periods of time than many of the antiperspirants on the market.
Dirty Girl Poletice is powder which you mix with water to form a mask for your hands. Let dry and then rinse off. You can use any grip aid after you wash the mask off. Dry Body is antiperspirant that will last from 24-48 hours and is best applied the night before poling.

I hope you find some of these suggestions helpful! Also if your hands aren’t slipping from sweat try making sure the pole and your hands are warm. It will also help you feel more secure once your grip strength improves. Check out the hand strength exercises in the conditioning section for help with grip strength.

I find that dry hands often needs topping up but I’ve found another that works wonders. I only need a tiny bit,it lastsfor ages, it’s cheaper than dry hands and you get more. I’ve put the link below. I also have quite sweaty thighs so I use little bit of tite grip in that area about half hour before class and I find that I rarely need to use grip on my thighs at all now. I have dry hands so don’t get enough grip and sweaty thighshutifindthat my current grip solves both issues.
