Help with Falling Angel Knee Hold
Posted by cbr600girl on April 28, 2009 at 3:02 amOK so I have watched Veena’s lesson on it over and over. No matter how hard I try the pole is on the lower part of my leg where she’s says not to put it. I can’t fix it though. I’ve tried moving around, pulling my ankle back and it will not go any higher on my leg. It is hurting if I try to let go. I know what I am doing wrong, but I can’t find a way to fix it. It is very frustrating and I am near tears because I can’t get it! Any advice, tricks and tips are greatly appreciated!

Are you talking about gemini? There are different names, I’m not sure which move you are referring to but give me a little more info and I will try to help. Is it an inversion with the outside leg hooked at the knee? Don’t stress, just give it a rest for a while and work on other things and go back to it later.

Its more than likely a lack of flexibility. it WILL hurt like a bleep https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_twisted.gif when you are first leaning this move. It hurrrrrtts. Remember too everyone’s legs are different lengths and sizes,….so while you do want the pole up as far as possible towards your knee and not on your calf…you may not be able to get your leg in exactly the same spot as me.

Thanks this makes me feel like I am not completly misunderstanding this move. I thought it might be my flexibility as well. I also have short legs, I am 5’3 so maybe it is a problem with length. Last thing I want though it to pop blood vessels on my calf! Should I just skip the knee hold and do the thigh hold?
Anyone else out there that is shorter who might be able to fill me on where your pole is while doing this move?

I’m still confused on what the move is…
I thought it was the knee hold but the talk of a thigh hold has confused me as the knee hold and thigh hold I’m thinking of aren’t alike

The common names….(thigh hold, cross ankle release, ankle release) As for the move she is working on…I call it the falling angel knee hold, (Cross knee release, cross thigh hold,)…I know there are plenty more names for these’s two moves. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif My version of thigh hold..looks like a chopper but your only holding on with one thigh.

I was thinking of "the knees" and the non inverted version of a tammy, and I think your thigh hold is my hip hold, more stuff to add to wikipole hehe
