LOL @ bridge looks like banana! Back flexibility will help, but placing the hand in the right area for your leg type, and being able to open up and drop the lower hip can compensate for lack of back flexy.

I keep reading these posts for ideas on how to make this move work for me.

I did Allegra, once. Rough looking. Clunky. But I was able to reach behind and grab my leg. But now, I just keep getting stuck on the pole as I try to tilt my hips open and down in order to reach my leg from behind. Anyone with tips on how to place your body? Please keep posting. For a long time, Ayesha was very hard for me and then I discovered a key to tiltiing my pelvis in the right direction and then I could do Ayesha. Thinking the same will happen with Allegra. Right now, I just have a sore shoulder from hanging on the pole with one leg and arm as I try to reach for my other leg.

Ppl compliment my bent allegra and I had to work REALLY hard on it but my foam roller helped sooo much with this move.

Today, I was able to do another bent, awkward Allegra. Goofy looking. So, now my total is up to "2" for being able to reach and grab my  bottom leg from behind. I was able to do it today because I wore a t-shirt. The material from the shirt help slide my torso. With just skin, I get stuck on my side against the pole. Will keep at it. I thought I could never to Ayesha…..and eventually, I did. Likewise for shoulder mount. After may failed attempts, finally got twisted grip shoulder mount down. Will keep working on Allegra. I like the way it looks.

I just learned the Allegra and am psyched to keep working on it. But can anyone point me to some neat transitions in and out of Allegra? They don't have to be complicated…I guess I'm looking for some choreogrpahy and timing ideas as much as trick vocabulary here.

I like to do a Jade (horizontal split), then Scorpio, then Allegra. Hold each trick for a few seconds at least to make the most of it and so it doesn't look rushed. It's easy to go from Jade to Scorpio, just bend top leg and cross over pole, keep gripping leg bent in scorpio so that you have room to reach up and grab pole with hand. If you wait too long and slide down pole until your leg is flush against pole in Scorpio, then your upper leg will be too vertical for allegra and there won't be much room for your hand to grab pole around leg. So that switch from Jade to Allegra should be swift, unless you can keep your legs bent in Scorpio. So for me the scorpio is just a transition.

To come out of Allegra, I just release and raise my back/lower leg and bring it around to grip pole in a crucifix/ankles on. You just have to twist your torso back to face pole. There are probably many more ways to transition out of it…. 🙂

into allegra I like coming from a jade(just reach your inside hand up and around, works better if you're doing the jade with both hands on your leg instead of the one on your butt but both work) or a meathook (hanging from inside arm only, legs in straddle, flip over into allegra grabbing pole)
