Hi from Johannesburg
I’m 27, married, BRAND new to pole dancing (though I tried it once at my bachelorette party last year and got totally hooked)… and my pole finally arrived today! I got a 5 piece "Extenda-Pole" from BodyMind Studios in South Africa – and they threw in a beginner’s instructional DVD for free. Top quality chrome pole that’s totally portable (I drive a very small car, so I was very chuffed about this https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif) The pole is very heavy as well… I know because as I was taking it out of the packaging, I dropped it on my finger!
I’ve been trolling this site for a few weeks now in anticipation of the arrival of my pole, reading up about everyone’s injuries and problem moves, etc., but also about their move victories and how amazing pole dancing is; and I think it’s an awesome resource to have. Thanks, Veena!
I’m a sub-editor for a magazine, and an obsessive writer, so here’s my blog – http://rautenbach.blogspot.com" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; – on which I’ll be tracking my pole dancing progress as well, week by week, to try to encourage as many of my friends to do it too, and so that they’ll know what to expect if they one day give in… and come over to the pole side!
Lastly, I see so many women write about pole dancing and almost defend it from the "stigma" that it still has as a men’s club thing, rather than a sport or another form of exercise. Then many of these same women wear the tiniest little outfits and the highest clear heels… which totally does no justice to their defense. What I like about the videos on this site is that you can see these (you https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_wink.gif) are everyday women having fun and feeling good about themselves and I think THIS is what will break that stigma. So you can all pat yourselves on the back and keep doing what you’re doing… cos I’m coming along for the ride… (or the spin, whatever blows your hair back)…
