Hi from Yorkshire.
Posted by pintsizepoler on January 1, 2012 at 4:24 pmHi every1 & happy new year to you all!
Just wanted to introduce myself. Not totally new to this site but ive not posted/uploaded anything yet, been a lurker! Being a new year and all, I thought i should take the opportunity to say hi to my fellow polers, u guys are a great community and have encouraged me without knowing it for the last six months or so to work through the pain of pole and carry on.Only had one lesson about a year ago, then the studio closed down so am totally self taught there are no pole studios local but hey youtube has everything!

Hi and welcome! Have you tried Veena's lessons? I do not have studio access and they are a godsend for me. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif Youtube has a lot, but V provides warmup, strength, streches, foam roller, hoop, lapdance…. and POLE lessons that are all amazing. Either way glad you are participating!

Hi poler! I’m from Lancashire-not too far from the border of Yorkshire. I’m also a beginner but fortunately I have a studio nearby. Good luck with the poling 🙂

Hi, I'm from Florida but I live in Cali. The closest studio for lessons is 30 mins away so I'm thinking about learning to pole dance on my own. I'm a little nervous because I'm not that strong when it comes to upper body strength. Based on reading the reviews, getting a 45 in width is advised, so I will definitely do that. I plan on starting when I get back to the states in Feb, so if there is any advice anyone can lend me that would be greatly appreciated. I'm not that flexible, and never been a gymnist, so I'm basically starting at the bottom. I figure doing 30 days of Insanity workout will get me in shape, and then I'll switch it up to pole dancing when I come home.

I just started about 9 months ago and at 45 had no gymnist in me….flexy etc. Stiff as a corpse! Anyway, start with the lessons, you will do great!

Well thanks for the motivation….I looked on Amazon for beginner dvds I haven't seen many good feedback from customers who bought the videos does anyone have any suggestions for beginners, or know of a good video that I can buy to practice at home.

Thanks for all replys, looking forward to veenas lessons eventually but for now i got a ton of dvds bought on ebay. Vertical dance and Art of pole are great to work from, loads of begginer stuff also bought spearmint rhino one but in fairness its a bit naff to learn from. I spend a fair bit of time also watching youtube tutorials, thats helped me alot. Wish i could afford the new collection from felix cane she is just amazing to watch, sooo jelous!

Well I'm looking forward to buying my first pole and training for it. I can dance I'm just not that flexible. My roommate is a gymnist and she helped me out with some stretching I can do in order for me to do a split. She said she was able to do a split after one week of good stretching. So hopefully that works in my favor as well.
