It’s awesome fun and so good for you. I have done a few lessons and now hoop for 10 minutes a day. I play about 3 or 4 songs and hoop to them for fitness. My stomach has never been so toned and I have had 3 kids. The weighted hoops are great. My next challenge is hooping with two hoops! Have fun! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif

I’ve been hooping for about 15 months to help me lose weight. I used to hoop when I was a kid (I was a field day champ of the hoop in the third grade, https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_lol.gif ), and I returned to it to get me to lose 50 pounds. I also did a bunch of other stuff, but hooping and poling are my favorites.

I have two of the Hoopnotica DVDs, and although I have found them to be helpful, there are so many YouTube videos that are just as instructive and just as fun, especially from SaFire (FireSandra) and Kamala and Hannah of Expert Village. Plus they’re free.

However, if you really want more of a overall kit, I suggest you wait a few weeks because Gaiam is about to release a HoopBody kit with three DVDs and a hoop for $40. http://www.amazon.com/Gaiam-Marisa-Tomei-HoopBody-Hoop/dp/B003IMHALE/ref=pd_sim_b_12

But yeah, hooping is a great workout. My abs are always sore after an hour of hooping and I can’t stand sit-ups. So anything that can free me from that, I am for it. Good luck.

I combine hooping as part of my pole warm up. I cheat and use a regular hula hoop I got from walmart- it works just as well for me but if you’re wanting something that is weighted, refer to the recommended hoops per hoopnotica. Eventually I’ll invest in a better hoop but for right now, my cheap hoop does me justice. Also, you may want to research your area and see if there are hoop groups. My friend in Florida is in a hoop group and its a group of women that meet together on certain days in a park and do a hoop workout together. Great idea for increased support. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_sunny.gif
