How much do you ladies spend on performances? Clothes, shoes, accessories, makeup, props, performance fees, and all that? I understand competitions can be quite pricey, but performances can be too. I am curious what you all do.

My very first performance, I performed barefoot, used black Mika shorts I already owned, and had TansyRae make my top. So, I paid 20.00 for materials. I used makeup I owned and had no props or accessories.

I am getting ready for my next performance and spending a bit more. I want some Glitter Heels, a gold top. I am not sure if I will be having one made or buying one yet. I will probably just wear black bottoms I already have this time too, but would love to find gold ones I actually like with some coverage. I will be wearing gold drippy earrings, but I do not own any. I will need to purchase some. I want gold eye makeup too and would have to go get a couple colors. I do not keep golds in my everyday supply….

I was just wondering the EXACT same thing and was browsing pole clothes this morning trying figure it out. In my mind, a class performance or personal performance for a group of family or friends would just warrant maybe a little nicer pole fitness top and bottom than the norm than you wear to class or practice in at home. Of course a competition or public performance, I think would warrant something a little snazzier wardrobe wise. That's my two cents. I cringe at the cost of even the simpliest pole wear. I wish it wasn't so expensive cause I want it ALL! lol

Even making costumes for midwest I spent $100 on swarovski crystals!

I would say a performance outfit would run right aroun $75 and then heels if you choose to wear them.

One tip – keep a look out at places like wet seal, forever 21 even Kmart for sparkly bikini sets.  Over the summer I got 5 bikini's for $100 at Kmart and they were sequined or sparkly.

Also Forever 21 has basic bikini pieces for $4.99-5.99 so if you purchased those and some sequins or crystals you could bling them out without spending a fortune.

I too noticed that you can spend just as much designing your own costumes! I love crystals too!!! Worth it for the sparkle!

yes truth about making your own , swarovski are expensive but theres never enough 😛

i sew so for me its a passion i love making them from scratch , but its cheaper to make them myself than paying someone for it

it depends also if its out of town then its hotel, gas, food ect ect

Well, this time, I found an outfit for 45.00 with shipping and my Glitter Heels will be the expensive part. At 120.00 with shipping. I am not sure I will be getting them though.

@luvlee, you could try just buying a black or clear pair of heels and applying the glitter yourself. I have a few friends who did that and its so much cheaper

When I competed at Midwest I spent about 50 on my costume (13ish on the top, 28ish on the shorts, 10 or so on sewing on materials/trim/crystals/etc). Makeup and accessories was all stuff I already owned.

The cheapest way for the golden glitter heels is to make them yourself.

The expensive way is to order them at http://www.glitterheels.com but it takes 4-6 weeks to make them & ship. the price is +/-80 usd & shipment – I paid 60 usd flat rate.

like https://www.studioveena.com/users/view/bca825f0-d89d-11df-ab19-12313b090e12  I make all my own costumes.  I sketch them and buy the pieces every week to keep working on them.  Ill shop just about anywhere for costume pieces.  One of my first performances I did  'Shut Up and Drive' by Rihanna, I bought a Dickies coverall jumpsuit and turned it into a skirt coverall.  I took some NASCAR logos and iron transfered them on and made a flag with checkered flag fabric.  Always watch out for Joann coupons – they can help save a ton!

Im now at a point where I can mix and match costume pieces to create new ones!  At Dangerous Curves, I got crystals and jazzed up my BK spider back bra and wore black shorts and a finge piece I made a long time ago.

For me not only do I get the joy of making my own, its just hard being plus size and finding a costume that isnt $300.

I think when it comes to costumiing, try to focus less on how much you're spending and focus on what is going to make you FEEL FABULOUS. Becasue you need to feel fabulous when you're up there performing, right? I mean, obviously you don't want to break the bank, but I think we can all get too caught up sometimes in finding the best deal, when your energies are much better spent on working on your performance flow.  My philosophy has always been to splurge on some items, like a fabulous pair of heels and maybe go a litlte more conservative on the rest (if you have a budget). If not, go all out! When you're 80, you're not going to look back and say I wish I wouldn't have spent as much money – you're going to look back and say, "Damn I looked  and FELT F*CKING FABULOUS!"

@Sunshine Diva – your Glitter Heels are awesome! I can say from experience that spending the money on buying from Tiffany is worth it becuase her heels look SO MUCH BETTER and more sparkly than the ones I tried to do myself or any of the ones my friends have done. Sometimes it's worth it to just spend the money.  🙂

@ Brandi Houseof Cherry: Thanks! For me, the quality is very important, and this involves to pay the price.. especially that when buying from US and delivering in EU, the custom taxes are killer!!! Anyway, I am very happy to dance with them: so comfortable and sexy! – —- fiusiouf

Yay, I'm glad you're happy with them!  You really do get what you pay for – I think it's so worth spending the money and getting a quality item (not to mention unique!).  I bet you'll have many more dances in your future with your Glitter Heels.  😉
