How do you disassemble your x-pole?
I sadly had to get rid of my permanent PS pole recently because I had to unexpectedly move to another apartment (it was cut to fit my old ceiling).
Bought an x-pole a few weeks ago to avoid this problem in the future…because it just isn’t economically feasible to get a new pole everytime I move to a new place. I usually take down the pole about once a week and move it from my living room to the bedroom https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_wink.gif I always seem to get various parts stuck (i.e. the 50–>45 converter stuck to an extension, A pole stuck to B pole, etc) and it usually turns into an ordeal getting them apart. I read on other posts that people just leave parts of their pole assembled to make it faster in terms putting it up, but I don’t like the idea of keeping them stuck. Don’t they apparently get harder and harder to take apart the longer they are stuck together? I’m really careful with cleaning out any dirt in the threads and am more than liberal with the WD-40. What’s the deal?
So my question is…what is the specific order of things that you do when you disassemble your x-pole? Loosen the individual pieces first and then the dome? Or dome first? Bottom to top? What’s the best way to do it?

do yourself a favor and go ahead and order the unlocking tools off the xpole website. they arent that expensive at all, not sure if you are in the states or not but here its really total cost of $30. thats really good compared to the hassle and pains you go thru trying to unlock the poles eachtime. as far as the order I was taught by my teacher, you unlock the pole starting from the bottom going up. i’m not sure if you do or not but when you assemble the pole and then the video tells you to tighten the poles after you finished screwing the top dome on…..i wouldnt do that. the pole is going to be tight anyway the more you spin on it so that extra tightening will only make it harder for you to unscrew after the fact. hope some of that helped…sorry i was rambling hahahahaha

yea i tried vaseline the last time my A and B got stuck together (stayed stuck over a week https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_shaking.gif )…i broke down and got the unlocking tools because driving my car with sheba stickin out is NOT the business…lol the tools make takin the pole down feel like butta…sooo easy https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_sunny.gif

Take the dome off first and then disassemble from bottom up, to take the base off 2nd. This is important so that the pole is flat on the floor as you remove the rest of the pieces.
It doesn’t matter from there which pieces you loosen next but most people remove the smaller extensions first simply becasuse they are easier to unscrew and you have them out of the way when you get to the large extensions.
I CLEAN my pole with WD 40 but lubricate it with a silicone spray lubricant. You can get it in the same area of the home store as WD 40.
Your pole should be disassembled and cleaned at least once a month.
Get the super release tools!!!
If you can’t and you have long screwdrivers that fit through the holes in the pole, the longer length and strength of the screwdrivers makes them stronger than the standard rods that come with the pole.
But the release tools work much better.

Thanks for the tips, ladies. Definitely gonna to look into buying the release tools! I tried to take the pole down again this weekend and not surprisingly had to struggle with it. I think I got more of a workout trying to take it down

OKAY..I’ve had it!! I have not been able to get my pole apart since I 1st put it up(it’s been together now for over a year!…had to move with it in one piece…we are in the middle of remodeling…everything has been crammed into the bedrooms because the flooring will be installed this Thursday in the kitchen, dining, living room, entry, and hallway….I have no where to put the pole in one piece…hubby said I’ll have to put it outside on the patio…there’s only about 4 feet of snow out there!!!!! I have tried everything suggested to get it apart…I’m so ready to THROW IT AWAY!!! I’m open to any/ALL suggestions…the shocking hasn’t worked, the stanley screwdrivers haven’t worked…we were very care assembling it so it’s not over tightened….oh it’s an x-pole… https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_cry.gif

THe problem is that not only will the pole become tighter from spinning counterclockwise, but if you don’t take it down every few weeks and disassemble and clean the joints then re-lube them the oils and dirt that infiltrate between the joint seams will coagulate and make the joints stick together like they were glued so it becomes VERY difficult to disassemble.
If you’ve tried everything else, without the super release tools I’m at a loss of what else to suggest. One other thing you might try is the method desribed on the last page of your instruction manual where you use a book wedged under one of the release tools on the floor. It’s lengthy to describe but if you don’t have the manual any longer, I can send you a pdf version of it if you send me your email.

Uh Oh……there is a reason the instructions tell you to disassemble the pole often! I honestly don’t know if you’ll be able to get it apart if it has been together and not maintained for that long. I have heard of metal kinda of fusing together and my guess is because it was together for so long thats the problem https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_pale.gif Have you tried getting two of your body builder friends together to disassemble it? When I took down my permanent pole I just put it along the wall, if you have a garage you could put it in there…since you don’t like the pole, I’m sure someone would buy it from you even if it doesn’t come apart! We tried to get it apart after the 1st wk, and continued to try…we finally gave up after 6 months!! IT WOULD NEVER COME APART!!

Hmmm I’m sorry I thought you had mentioned you had never tried to take it apart till recently. If you dislike the pole so much then sell it.

I don’t dislike it…I just dislike the fact that it won’t come apart LOL….I have literally nowhere to put it…the bedrooms are piled wall to wall right now….we down sized now that the kids are gone, we went from almost 2400 sq feet to 892! so absolutely no where to store it unless I want to sleep with it!! HaHa

I presume it’s just the two longest pieces that are stuck? Even if it’s more, what about under your bed or stand it up in the corner of your closet?

LOL…my closet is too small to lay it down and a permanent shelve prevents me from standing it up. My bed is stuffed underneath…all of the living room and dining room, pantry, and foyer closet are packed in these two bedrooms! Oh and it’s been all of the pieces…we were never able to get the base of either! Our garage is full to the top with boxes and and all the old kitchen cabinets that were removed…they will be hauling that out this wkend…I asked my niece if I could put it in her apartment for now…waiting to hear from her…Thanks for the suggestions though!! I’ve had my pole for two weeks now and it has gotten stuck so many times. Fortunately it’s been the base and the adjuster (like, it wouldn’t screw). A rubber mallet softly to the base lifted it out in seconds and they told me I could use axel grease on the adjuster.
Question, what parts of your pole should you be cleaning everytime you take it down?

I never remove the base section unless I"m packing my pole for travel.
You no longer have to clean the connecting parts of the Xpole with the new Xjoints.
For regular maintenance there are a few things to check like the hex screws, etc if they need any oiling from time to time. Check the last page of your instruction manual for these instructions but it’s basically just checking the operation and inspecting parts.
