    Hi all

I have seen Jenyne Butterfly and some of the other performers do this beautiful move where they climb and sit, then put one hand under their bum in a split grip and open their legs in an attitude position whilst arching their back. Does anyone know any tricks to help me with this? Where are the points of contact? What are the important steps to get into it? Will look for a video example but internet is reeeeaaaaaaallllllyyyy sllloooooowwww today!

Start in a straight legged sit, twist hips, press pole into the(front) thigh of the back leg, pull with hands, bend knee of back leg, arch, bring front leg forward. Front leg should be completely free to move, tension is all coming from the arch of your back and pull of your hands forcing the pole ino the back leg.

Thanks amy! Love your blog! So the things I'm hearing as important are the twist in the hips, the arch in your back and pressing the pole into the front of the thigh. Hands in split grip?

Bottom hand should be baseball grip, like a regular wrist seat 🙂

Think head to foot with the back arch and back leg attitude. Don’t let the front leg drop too much, try to keep it horizontal. This pic helps with what I mean about front leg:

Sorry for any terseness, typing on iPad.

Pointing your front foot towards the ground gives the move a different look which I think is equally pretty:
