  • How do you moisturize your skin?

Posted by sosagely on May 7, 2010 at 12:31 pm

Obviously, I’ve pretty much stopped wearing lotion since I started poling, but lately I’ve noticed my legs are a bit on the dry side and I swear it’s making me slippier on the pole. I’m upping my water intake, but thought you lovelies would have tips/products etc that are pole and skin friendly?
    Thanks!

I generally moisturise everyday before going to bed, meaning theres isnt any of that lotion slipperyness on my legs by the time I’ve showered and gone to pole dance the next day…

Ditto. I do my lotions at night, by the next afternoon I don’t notice any issues when I use the pole.

corn husker’s lotion. you can put it on immediately before poling. it soaks in fast, and has no oil or oil-like ingredients in it. glycerin based.

    Aloe vera gel also works.

I have this same problem ALL the time, my skin is really dry, and i’m anemic so i’m always cold. A good trick is like everyone is saying to moisturize the night before. Or, i’ve gotten use to using Firm Grip on my thighs and legs pretty regularly.
I’ve also been told about using shaving cream on your legs to get them sticky. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif

I moisturize with neutrogena oil early in the morning before work (around 6am) and I normally pole in the evenings (around 8-ish) so the slipperyness is gone by then but my skin is still moist enough to stick. If you’re too dry you’ll slide just as much as if you were covered in oil….well some people do…not everyone, I guess. LOL

Really dry flakey skin is just like having talcum powder on your skin so you actually do not grip as well.

A good example of how moist skin grips is when you think of trying to get dressed too soon after getting out of the shower…your skin is moist and your legs or arms get stuck against the fabric when you’re trying to pull your clothes on.

You just need to avoid oily products that do not soak into your skin. In addition to some of the other produces mentioned here, I really like the bedtime baby lotion by Johnsons. I can apply it right before getting on the pole and not have grip problems.

An important thing to remember is that you really need to massage your lotions into your skin. Milder lotions that work prior to pole dancing may feel like they don’t moisturize but most people just slap their lotions on quickly and dont really rub them in…this is not helping to moisturize and in fact is leaving a layer of slippery residue on your skin!

Hand lotion – all day long… just because I like washing my hands
Body lotion – every night before I go to bed or after my evening shower. I ALWAYS do a quickie rinse shower before poling anyways so I don’t see the need to totally nix the lotion.

I got a fabulous one in Bristol from a girl that had a temporary stall in Broadmead shopping centre, so where the heck I’d get another bottle is anyone’s guess… anyhow, it’s supposedly got dead sea salt minerals in it, and it’s the best I’ve ever used, it moisturises beautifully while not making your skin greasy, so I can open doors even after moisturising! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_lol.gif I’ve seen stuff in Boots that claims to be dead sea salt minerals, but this one by Etre is the only one I’ve tried so far.

I had the same dry skin problem and it does make you more slippery.
I started using cornhuskers it’s the best not the most pretty smell but very effective
and oil of olay moisture rinse at night is great too if your EXTRA dry use it on your off day
I noticed it comes back when you perspire. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_razz.gif

yeah tell me about it, been fighting this as long as I’ve been poling.

I use lotions or oils on nights I know I’m not going to be poling. Aloe on days I am. Corn Huskers right before I pole.
