  • How does one organize a pole jam? (Phoenix, Az)

I am soooo lonely! The only time I can pole in a studio is when I've made enough money at work to put $20 in gas to get down to the studio, and another $10 to do open pole. And for whatever reason, Phoenix polers do not take advantage of open pole! Every time I go to open pole here, it's like, me and one instructor. Which is fine, they're always friendly. But I want a pole buddy! And maybe, for those more adventerous, a bi-poler partner 🙂

The thing that I love most about pole is the community. And I want to know as many lovely women as I can who have my same passion for pole. So my question for the Veena community is, have you ever been to a pole jam? Was it in a studio or at someone's house? Did you have to coax the studio into opening their doors on a weekend or something? Was it sucessful (a lot of people showed up), or a waste of time?  Also, what city was your pole jam in? Thanks!

P.S. I know a lot of Veener's do the skype pole jams, but that's not really an option for me. Pole's in the garage, PC is in the house :/ Also, I mean something more…live. Like, face to face.

Witchess and I do pole jams at eachothers house. We either share a pole or each have our own depending on the house. We don't have a schedule. We just practice and chat. We set them up by just asking the other if they want to pole on a certain date.

And how did you guys end up doing pole jams? Just by asking around Studio Veena for people in your area?

I'm totally curious to know how one makes local friends to pole with, too!

I had a girl from this site contact me. We each have a pole, but she usually comes to my house since I have a designated pole room with a 10ft pole and 2 walls with floor to ceiling mirrors.

So maybe just look on this site for people in your area and ask if they'd be up for working out together sometime. FYI she and I met in public the first time to make sure we werent creepers on the internet. We met in Dec. and hang out weekly…not always just to pole, either!https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif

We met at calss, but meeting in a public place would work! Yeah, just contact local girls and see if they want to meet up.

I would feel like such a creeper messaging someone I've never talked to and be all, "HEY GURL HEY, WANNA POLE? I'm not a weirdo, so let's go for coffee just to make sure I don't put you in a landfill 🙂 "

._. I am so awkward, oh God.

Just e-mail someone in your town and introduce yourself.

Yea, all they can say is "no", then you move on to the next person. 🙂

I've met a few good friends from online forums.

When trying to find a friend to pole with, would it be a good idea to look for someone within your own level of ability?

I have reached out to pretty much all of the instructors in the NE Ohio area.  A lot of instructors just do not take the time to pole for themselves.  They in turn have referred/brought students.  There used to be a bar we would try to go to on a weeknight…sometimes there would be a few of us, sometimes more.  We have also gone to each others houses or sometimes the studio.  I have a standing open pole on Monday nights at one of the studios and I have the keys to the place so I lock up when we are done.  One of the other studios has a monthly jam.  I have also reached out to pretty much every NE Ohio person on this board and invited them into the Ohio Peace and Pole and also the NE Ohio Pole group on facebook.  You may want to see if there is an Arizona Peace and Pole and reach out to people on that.

As for looking for people with the same abilities, that will be difficult.  Everyone progresses differently.  Some times it is just nice to have a spotter for that crazy move you want to try.

Don't worry about finding someone at yor level. Witchess and I are at different levels, but it doesn't matter to us!

Maybe you should put a netbook on your holiday/birthday wish list 🙂 All of the ones I've looked at have webcams and since they don't have disc drives they tend to be more affordable. Just in case you do end up wanting to do the online pole jam.
