Hi everyone! I joined a few days ago and am currently shopping for a pole! I’m most likely going to go with the X-Pole Xpert 45mm chrome. I’m excited to start!

I was wondering, what changes have you noticed in your body since starting pole? Mainly I’m interested in abs and inner thighs because those are my problem areas 😛

I hardly know where to begin on all the changes I have seen my body go through, I’m in better shape now than I ever have been, I look better, feel better and walk tall. My core is strong which helps my back after suffering spinal injuries in MVA almost 30 years ago, my inner thighs , legs are tight and have good shape, the list is way too long I’m sure others will add their bit. No sport, gym or home excercise has given me results that pole has, including a good dose of self esteem and self confidence.

my body has changed a lot as well. My muscles are more defined. I am a fitness instructor and was in pretty ok shape. Since pole I am in excellent shape. Ok my tummy needs a little more work.
A lot of people have complimented me on how I look and asked how I did it and that they want to look like me and get the results I have. When I tell them that I pole for some reason no one seems very interested in trying 😉 They think its cool that I do it, but every one is to afraid to try.
But I love it and never want to go back.

I am blown away by the changes. I used to be obese, but I had already lost the weight and was running before I started pole, so I haven’t gotten any thinner (I don’t want to and eat to avoid it, I’m 110 lbs/5’2″/39 years old). That said, I didn’t have any real muscle definition before (except in my legs from running). Now I have tons of it in my arms, back, and abs (getting a 6 pack even). My nagging running injuries have gone away, I am much stronger and more flexible, and on and on. My weight hasn’t changed as I said but my clothes are looser so I think I’ve traded some fat for muscle, I’m definitely firmer than I was.

I noticed my arms looked amazing first. I was doing my hair in the mirror and thought “Hey when did i get those guns?”. Then a month later i had hubby take pics of some of my tricks and i was amazed to see so much muscle definition in my legs. I can do pull ups new and I’m a lot stronger in general. Loving the new me and the fact that pole is so fun it didn’t ever feel like work.

I’ve actually gained a stone in weight but it’s all muscle! People never believe me when I say how much I weigh but it’s the honest truth. I’ve always been fairly big in build; I’m 5’7″, weigh 12 stone and have a big bone structure, so I’ve never really aspired to be petite. It makes me so happy that I now looked toned and more muscular (as opposed to my former un-defined self!), feels so empowering!

Well, my arms and shoulders and back are beast from pole and i’m loving all the upper body strength that I have gained. My core is stronger, but not showing any abs cause I need to loose some more fat. My thighs didn’t really get defined from pole but they have from loads of squats. but the shoulders and back have really toned out for me.

I posted some before and after pics on my profile, I think they demonstrate what pole does clearly! I didn’t start pole for a particular reason, I.e. Lose weight / tone etc, I just started.
I bought a beautiful dress for my friends wedding 3 years ago, I started poling 2.5 years ago, I went to try that dress on last year and that dress no longer fits, it’s about 3 inch too big all over (annoying as it cost me a small fortune!) I didn’t set out to get smaller and I don’t feel like I have but the dress doesn’t lie!
I know I have muscles and muscle definition now which I have never had. I was looking at pics from about 2007-2010 yesterday and can’t believe how different I look, especially in my posture.
I feel generally body awesome. I didn’t feel body bad before pole but I didn’t feel body awesome either.
I LOVE POLE and everything it does for me, body and mind 🙂

In the year I’ve been poling, I’ve gained about 8 lbs, with most of it being muscle. I’ve seen the most muscle gain in my shoulders/arms and abs. I have gained a crazy amount of core strength, but I will note that my waist has grown an inch from the addition of that muscle (and I measured my body fat %, so I know it is actually muscle and not fat). I’m sure if I actually dieted down I would have a pretty awesome 6-pack under there 😉 My lower half has stayed the same or gotten a bit smaller.

This being said, I have made no changes to my diet, and probably eat a bit more poorly and drink more than I did last year. I also am predisposed to putting on lots of muscle fast, so I am probably the exception rather than the rule.

I’ve been bodybuilding for almost 20 years. I started poling a year ago and have found that I no longer need to train arms; the pole does that for me 🙂

I’m also in the “Older Poler” category at age 49. I started to pole at age 47 so I wasn’t sure what to expect. 2 years later I am in the best shape of my life. I remember a physician telling me that it is not practical to expect my body to ever look or act like it did in my 20’s. While my skin tone cannot be reversed, my muscle tone is fabulous. Way better than in my 20’s! I used to be quite a gym rat, but I could never get my arms, abs, or legs to get any definition. I think it was probably because I didn’t push myself hard enough. With pole, you are pushing beyond limits you ever thought possible. The best news is that you don’t always feel like you are because it is so much fun!!! Pole has easily been the most incredible way to get in shape. Hands down.

All this talk about how my body would get stronger, fitter , more defined and toned was starting to annoy me because I wasn’t losing any weight and I wasn’t noticing anything changing until about a year in, I was going out one night and out on a dress I hadn’t wore in months. It looked awesome. My back used to be very chunky and I had huge arms in my eyes , but none of that was present anymore! It felt like over night I had changed because I hasn’t noticed anything happening, I focused in the scales too much. Now as I’ve got healthier and learnt more about fitness and healthy eating in general I realise it’s not about the scales, it’s how your defined in different parts of your body. I’m still not tiny but I’m so happy with myself now and my confidence is soaring all because of pole! IF you told me 3 years ago I’d be an advanced poler today, I would have laughed. Lol. But it’s happened and I love it and my body loves it too, even the bruises because the benefits outweigh the small things 😉 my arms are stronger than most people I know hehe and it’s awesome!!
